Very good read on Brady Hoke and how some of his former players felt about him and his coaching style.
A few quotes from the article:
The first thing he did at Michigan when we broke the first team meeting was come into the defensive line meeting room. His passion lies in the defensive line room, said Ryan van Bergen, who played defensive end for Hoke at Michigan in 2011. That is where he likes to focus his energy and where he feels most comfortable.
He is going to be tough on them at first. Coach Hoke is such a technician and so detailed. His standards are so high that at first its going to be really challenging, Haines said. Probably the first half of spring ball, those defensive linemen at Tennessee will be thinking This guy is unhappy with anything that I do. Nothing is good enough for this guy. But thats just him elevating the standard he wants set.
They can expect physicality. Coach Hoke isnt someone that has a lot of fancy, finesse moves. His standard is to dominate the line of scrimmage physically, van Bergen said. We dont run around guys. We are running plays to go through the offensive line. There is no such thing as evading blocks. That doesnt happen when you play for Coach Hoke. When you play for Coach Hoke, you beat the guy in front of you and then go make the play.
Ex-players expect Brady Hoke to 'elevate the standard' at Tennessee
