Even More Obamacare Follies

It's called rhetoric, Gramps. We all know who the democrats expect to pay the bills and it isn't somebody who gets back more than he or she paid in.

This I agree to and yes the 47% line was strictly rhetoric first stated at a fundraising event, IIRC.

For the majority of the 1900s, income taxes have been between 60-90% for the top bracket. Today they are only 39.6%.

Ever heard of loopholes. Nobody paid 60-90%.

And "only 39.6"? really? We shouldn't be taxed on what we earn to begin with, but you're happy with 40% of someone's income going to the government.

If we actually calculated all the local, state and federal taxes we pay what would be the median % of income do we pay in taxes?

You believe there's less loopholes now than there were in the 40?

Around 18% for federal income tax. Some have calculated the total of all taxes paid to federal, stae, and local agencies to average 50% of income.

Yes. Personally, I believe all loopholes should be closed and exemptions (like mortgage interest) eliminated. If we must pay an income tax, it should be a flat 15% for all income levels.
