Even More Obamacare Follies

To say the ACA cannot be made a better law is ridiculous. The GOP is sent to DC to legislate, not obstruct. It is their job to do all they can to make it better. If not for Republicans Bob Bennett, Mike Enzi, Chuck Grassley and Olympia Snowe working on the ACA in committee we would have had the public option when the bill was passed. They did have some influence on the final bill. The GOP can sit on rheir hands and continue to act like spoiled brats and drive this fast to single payer or they can do their job and do all they can to repair it

The GOP can't do it all. What have the democrats done lately to make it better other than complain about the GOP?

Never fear, OFA will start signing people up for Obamacare with the same penchant for cooking the books as they showed when registering them to vote. Obama and Gramps will be able to tout what a huge success it all is and any claim to the contrary is just GOP dirty tricks.

Gramps is not touting it as a huge success. I am saying both sides needs to sit down and make it a better law. It is not going away no time soon., if ever.

It they do it will not be repealed then unless they gain a 2/3 rd majority to override a veto. As low as both sides are polling, I do not see that happening.

They need to do something productive and make it a better law. I am sure both sides COULD sit down and agree on some ways to make it better.

Those rose colored glasses must be getting a little uncomfortable.

Yea they can vote on a fix but not know what's in it until it passes.

Now the next question is...

Since Obama and company have their "hat in hand" supposedly, how many GOP ideas are actually going to be included?

Get serious Gramps, anything that comes attached with an (R) behind it is automatically dismissed by this Administration and Democratic Party. Since when have they been open to anyone's ideas but their own?

You're an intelligent guy, but history over the past five years has to show you each and every time Obama and company "reach across the aisle" the hand that's returned gets smacked.

Saddle them with it? How about just get them to come up with some ideas that improve upon it and prevent it from having all the harmful effects claimed?

Not going to happen. Being able to stand there and take pot shots at it and Obama, instead of actually governing, is all they have been about for the last five years, and all they will be about for the next three.

They may have done just that in the initial stages of writing the law, but if you remember (doubtful), not one GOP representative or senator was invited to those meetings.

Boehner and Obama have agreed on a couple of things but Boehner was unable to sell to the Tea Party members who have basically been running the GOP house.

This is the Obama's pile of horse crap. It was passed against the wishes of the majority of Americans. It was passed behind closed doors without a full understanding of the impacts of the law. It was passed on without a Republican vote. It was sold with a pack of lies!!

Now the Republicans should help make his law better? I don't think so.

You make the assumption that this type of law is sustainable. It's not. There's no reason to tweak it. It needs to be scrapped before it ruins our existing delivery system. Only then should we start to discuss other options.

I'll support anyone who makes it their goal to scrap this law. Their job in DC is not just to sit around and pass laws. Obstruction is a perfectly valid reason to be in DC. If you think that makes me an "extremist", that's fine. The entire Democratic party has been taken over by lunatics. It's not reasonable to negotiate with crazies.

I've got to go with DC on this one. This law was forced through. Tweeks won't solve the problem. It needs a major overhaul yet Obama stated he will never support that.

Small changes from the GOP can't be plugged in to the existing law. Fixes require MAJOR changes thus they will not occur and the "hat in hand" tactic is just that; a political tactic.

Even something like allowing sales across state lines could not be added to this in it's current form and the amount of change required prevents Obama from supporting it. Ironically, he repeatedly claims the exchanges work due to competition - well if he supports that premise he should be all about removing the state limitation but he's not.

The most galling part is his continual statements that the GOP wants the status quo (no changes to the old system) and have offered no alternatives. That is a straight up lie yet he continues to state it. Tells you all you need to know about his willingness to listen to their ideas.

Washington (CNN) -- Democratic Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, one of Obamacare's architects and staunchest supporters, is also the only top congressional leader to exempt some of his staff from having to buy insurance

Some Reid staffers exempt from Obamacare exchanges - CNN.com

this bullcrap needs to be dealt with the courts now.. the law applies to everyone or no one!

Of course the biggest problem is that the sheer size and complexity of the cluster filth means we don't really know the true depth of the problem and won't for many years.

Exactly how do you propose it get scrapped? Reid will not bring it up in the Senate nor would Obama sign it. If the GOP gains controls of the Senate in 2014, it still will not be repealed, the GOP would have to pick up a 2/3rd majority in Congress. That ain't going to happen, too many gerrymandered districts.

The GOP is going to push the ACA to a single payer system fast if all they choose to do is sit on their hands and vote to repeal another 40 times. One thing about the modern day GOP, they can be handed a silver platter and figure someway to turn it into shat and look like the party of the stupid in dong so.

If you think a Senator or Congresspersons job is to Obstruct our Government, yes that is a very extreme view.

Both sides have their share of lunatics, that is a fact. The difference being the GOP has been letting their lunatic wing run the party.

What alternatives has the GOP offered ?
Seriously all I have saw is to repeal, repeal and replace or delay. I do not know how they propose to replace.

It only gets scrapped if the public votes out those who support it.

There is no way the GOP can fix this law without Dem support to fundamentally alter the law.

I don't agree that the logical outcome of this crap bill is single payer. I can see a move towards the GOP-style plan if people's faith in the government continues to decline.

Point fingers is all both sides do. Neither side is doing their jobs.

You build your house without asking for and refusing my help, it's not my responsibility to fix it when it starts falling in on you.

I've posted it a couple of times. They have a written plan that addresses the uninsured and pre-existing conditions. It may have even passed the House (can't recall).

Will it work? I don't know but criticizing it's efficacy is entirely different than saying it doesn't exist (which is what Dems and Obama are doing). They are lying.

I propose getting some leaders with the fortitude to sell the case to the public, to tie this around the dems necks, and to use that momentum to make it a priority in their terms of office. Well have to displace a lot of the rot currently in the system.

Nothing wrong with obstructing crappy laws. Compromise for its own sake is a losing strategy. In life and in legislation.

Also hilarious that you point to the tight side of the aisle for these lunatics. Open your eyes...they've been running the country since 06. You like it?
