Estrella Comparison

For those of you old enough to remember, does JP Estrella remind you of Kevin McHale? I’m not saying he’s anywhere near that level, but the way he moves and his arms reminds me of McHale. Would love it if he ends up being half as good.
We need him to stay healthy bad. If so, we can be dangerous in March. Love the way he plays. Awesome that we are owning the paint and not falling in love with the 3 ball.

JP may look like him walk like him but he doesn't play anything like McHale. He isn't 1% of the player McHale was

At least he doesn’t claim to have an 8’ wingspan ! Folks in this league will know who JP is by the end of Jan. , perhaps before. We’ve not had this talent in the post in many many years , maybe never.
I can’t wait to watch this team
Edit; I am just glad he’s a BasketVol and not wearing blue (Duke / Jayhawks).

In ways, yes he does. Great comparison. With the bigs we have, we really should work inside out.

Black, Hathaway and Victor were pretty good.

Yes! I made that very comparison after a couple of early games. Excellent footwork and a feathery touch around the rim. McHale had freakishly long arms which made him nearly impossible to stop.

Yeah I see it....not his skill level but how he looks and moves does remind me of McHale. The one thing that stands out to me about him is how quick he releases the ball after receiving a pass in the lane. Especially when he catches it high.

That’s three good bigs, but I count this team with four!
Wait until Brown gets rolling then we have 5 legitimate bigs that can jam up the middle. I hope Cade develops a 15 footer to complement Okpara’s three point shooting. With Boswell and Abrams playing D like they did tonight and our bigs getting defensive boards. This is going to be fun to watch.

Charles Hathaway? Nobody even wanted to run with him at Green Hills Y. He was not good at all.
He was before the blood clot issue. Had a very promising freshman season (averaged 7 pts & 7 rebs) then was never the same when they discovered his condition early on in his sophomore season.

No, not yet. He has better range though. McHale rarely shot outside of the paint
