Am I thrilled with this hire? No. Am I surprised? No.

We evidently offered a boatload of money to James Franklin (and perhaps others), but the threat of looming sanctions was too much to overcome. DW can’t walk on water ... we’re just not as attractive a job as we used to be. Over the past 15 years, we have made our bed, and we will have to continue to lie in it for the foreseeable future.

I’m disappointed, but I will support Heupel until he proves he’s not the guy. Until then, GBO!
I hear ya. See you in three years 🍻

We are the Chernobyl of college football. Despite Pruitt getting much of the blame, NEVER forget that Fulmer was just as clueless and culpable for the decline and ultimately the death of our beloved program. These two have made the school brand a laughingstock to the point that NOBODY wants to come here to coach. 2-3 year, rinse ,repeat. Vols!

At the close of this coaching search, I find myself as I was at the conclusion of the last few: wait, give the incoming staff a chance to get things right, and see how things are going over the next few years. Hopefully the change in staff will also usher in a change in culture, as that seemed (to me) to be the rot at the core of the apple, so to speak, at the end of the last three coaching tenures. Hopefully, Mott the Heupel can rally all the young dudes on the team, and turn this thing around.

How the hell is he worse than Pruitt? He's 28-8, which is comparable to what Frost hsd when all you geniuses wanted him. This is a really good hire, especially considering what the next HC was gonna walk into. Just please none of you damn idiots start rioting or crap like that. Give the man a chance and be thankful anyone wanted this damn job.

Because at least Pruitt had a proven track record against top competition. This slug can't maintain his program in the AAC but he puts up big offensive numbers against sisters of the poor. You guys need to wake up. You aren't ready for what this program is about to become under this clown.

JH has been a HC and OC at Mizzu and Oklahoma. He's coached against high level teams and succeeded.

He wasn’t my first, second, third choice etc but I think the offense will be much improved (and we will certainly get rid of Weinke which is a plus). I have a feeling this will look like the Dooley teams we had, great offense, just average recruiting and suspect defense. If he keeps Steele (Shannon might be ok but I think Steele is the better pick for DC) and has good recruiters as positions coaches, this might end up being ok, not great, but ok.

Well, if this is it, White lied to us in the interview with Bob. Said he was gonna make a hire to energize the fan base... Instead, he flatlined it. Heupel is as an exciting a hire as watching a rock sit in the dirt. Guess we'll be paying two more giant buyouts in 3 years.

For the record I certainly will be giving Heupel a chance and he deserves a long leash considering a third of our roster has bolted and the colonoscopy without anesthesia from the NCAA is yet to come. As I said yesterday, no one wanted the search to end here but if Beldar's sins are as bad as some are leading us to, this may believe, this may in fact be the best we could do, unless you wanted Steele.
