ESPN's Chris Low reporting it's done

Pruitt may not have known what was going on at Tennessee and consequently may get a slap on the wrist also. But Tennessee may get a bowl ban and lose scholarships because of actions by assistants under his watch. If that’s the case, then who’ya blaming.
I'm just telling you, Freeze is a winner that doesn't have this ncaa baggage people like to claim he has, and we don't even talk to him. The ncaa found that he was unaware of his assistants violations. Ole miss blamed him so hard they were sticking with him. He's a winner. He can build. Instead, we hire captain downward trajectory. And give ucf money to hire a better coach than we just paid them for.

Freeze caught a failure to monitor charge. We are firing a coach for cause for failure to monitor. Even discounting his hooker deal you have to know he had 0 chance here once the ncaa issues hit.

AD White seeks coach to help polish Vols' 'brand'

So UT is paying AD White 1.8 million per year (not including annual 5% pay increase) for 5 years, paid 2.5 million to buy out White's UCF contract and will have to pay Fulmer 1.3 million.

UT is getting Heupel at a cost of about 12.8 million dollars? I think Fulmer could have pulled off a Heupel hire.

EDIT: this did NOT include the $6 million buyout of Heupel's UCF contract. Up to $18.8 million now.
What are the details of Heupel’s contract ? How many years?

I believe there was a search from what I have been reading. He just got turned down by 2-3 choices. I think this guy was his 4-5th on the list pick and just took the best he could get when White realized no top coaches were interested. And Freeze was never a candidate in the search. Maybe White would have hired him but the UT Admin said no way so no contact was made.
