I noticed a whole lot of "couldn't be reached for comment" in that article on both sides...

It's like my Papaw always said, "There's two sides to every story and somewhere in the middle lives the truth.".

There was no new news in this article, yet ESPN shared it anyway. And the author’s conclusions were weak at best. This was very basic reporting that a 3rd grader could have created after reading 3 or 4 other articles. Slow news cycle I guess.

I generally think we shouldn't sue them and just let it go, but if they keep spouting the narrative about Spyre missing payments, I hope Spyre goes full nuclear on them.
I'm 100% in favor of going nuclear on them. No doubt the Spyre/Nico agreement was structured so Spyre could recoup at least some of the money paid Nico from personal appearances and autograph sessions. Nico failed to perform per the agreement and Spyre incurred financial injury. If they have an attorney with the family's best interests at heart, they'll settle out of court vs. risk losing it all, and maybe more, in attorney's fees.

going to have a hard time convincing me that UT and Spyre were leaking things negative about Nico before the deal all fell apart. This was clearly a robbery gone bad. They were shopping Nico around since the playoffs. Nico got to keep his hands clean because the family was doing the dirty work. Honestly, Nico may not have been aware of what was going on around him. But it was happening.........

Meh, I don’t buy that he’s that innocent. He didn’t show up at events, the ones he did go to had his dad intervene and get him out of quickly. Also skipped out on practices as well.

That didn't happen.
And if it did, it wasn't that bad.
And if it was, that's not a big deal.
And if it is, that's not my fault.
And if it was, I didn't mean it.
And if I did, you deserved it.
Bro, I wish they'd let me give you ten likes for this. One of the best breakdowns I've ever seen--nice logic.

My biggest takeaway was that Nico didn't have an agent and that Nic and his buddy were the ones doing the negotiating. They clearly didn't know what they were doing.
I don't think their intention was to not be at TN this season.
Nico 8 made the choice big nic told him to go to practice and then told him to go talk to coach and Nico wouldn't and went home.

Ok people you are 100% right. I just skimmed the article because I was trying to post first. I honestly don't care about Nico, his family & the drama one bit. I really just HAVE TO post enough articles, so that I can post in the political channel. I hate starting threads but despite the fact I've been a member 12yrs, have never been banned or censored, & asked the moderator for an exemption [which was 100% ignored with no response] I cannot post. So, AS A RESULT the rest of you are going to have to put up with half skimmed article BS posts until I have started enough threads to get into the previously mentioned channel. Rant over.
You ain't missing anything.

The telling things about Nico in this story:

"A lot of people were surprised he missed that practice, but it wasn't the first time he missed something he was supposed to be at, so I don't know if anybody should have really been that surprised."

and

"There had been opportunities in place for Iamaleava to make "well into the six figures" in additional NIL earnings, one source said, if he agreed to certain appearances and requests, but he declined to do so."

So yeah, young Mr. Entitled wanted to make all the money without having to "earn" it outside from showing up on game day and being decent, but not great. We need a QB that bleeds football dedication and the extra curricular activities that are involved such as showing up to Vol events to represent the university. And I'm going to guess spending hours in the film room vs doing his own thing was a problem as well. He looked lost at OSU, and OSU played the same type of game all year. If you ever see the Manning documentary, that is the level of university participation, support AND film studying I want out of our QB. That doesn't mean he'll win us the NC, but it does mean we may get a Manning/Dobbs/Casey Clausen level of play out of them. Tired of the NIL era already.

Either that or totally immature. He sounds like a kid who has been sheltered his whole life and has no idea what the real world is
Correct. He needs to spend a summer working construction with his hands. The guy really hasn't worked a day in his life.

No kid has. I don't know how kids are supposed to ever get any perspective on anything if they're not allowed to work.

I bet he wouldn’t show up for work in pajama pants. Or at worst, he would only do it one time 😂
