Ok people you are 100% right. I just skimmed the article because I was trying to post first. I honestly don't care about Nico, his family & the drama one bit. I really just HAVE TO post enough articles, so that I can post in the political channel. I hate starting threads but despite the fact I've been a member 12yrs, have never been banned or censored, & asked the moderator for an exemption [which was 100% ignored with no response] I cannot post. So, AS A RESULT the rest of you are going to have to put up with half skimmed article BS posts until I have started enough threads to get into the previously mentioned channel. Rant over.

Nico's camp is so stupid. I feel bad for this kid. They think this constitutes damage control?

Nico felt "betrayed" because there was a leak that he was trying to leverage more money?...that's why he ghosted practice? He thinks he's entitled to try to secretly hold us over a barrel? It's so weird.
yeah this isn't giving me a good feeling at all. something feels way off and I don't think Nico is blameless at all but when you micromanage your kids life, you take ALL the bullets and so far it looks like his "team" is letting him take the blame while weakly insinuating its a UT issue or a spire issue

What a blessing in disguise this has all been honestly. Bro showed his true colors and he really doesn't care about anything but the money, and he thinks he is above others because of his so called "talent". Couldn't even face Heupel in person, what a coward. After all Josh did for him he handled the situation like a 16 year old at his first fast food job. So glad he is not on my team and no longer in a leadership position at Tennessee. Unless he dramatically changes his attitude he will never live up to the bill. Good riddance!

If you can't handle this forum or thread backlash, you have no business in the Political Form.

They better cool it with the "missed payments" excuse unless it's true. The sharks over at Sprye will show them what lawfare is all about.
I generally think we shouldn't sue them and just let it go, but if they keep spouting the narrative about Spyre missing payments, I hope Spyre goes full nuclear on them.

Couldn't even face Heupel in person, what a weak little coward. After all Josh did for him he handled the situation like a 16 year old at his first fast food job. Have to say I respect his Dad for at least trying to get him to own up, but buddy is such a weakling he just hid until his flight. So glad he is not on my team and no longer in a leadership position at Tennessee. Unless he dramatically changes his attitude he will never live up to the bill. Good riddance!
Most know his dad is a big liar! I am sure Nico is at fault as well. But, I would be very surprised if Nico had much choice in the decision. If it was his decision not to show up for practice, it was probably due to embarrasment of he and his father getting caught again trying to get more money. He may have seen Merk and Mac perform just as well at throwing balls all over the field and figured he would get out while the getting was good! He seems like the type of person to run from adversity and think no one is better than him at the same time!!!

Nico was "sad and hurt" about all the backlash when he told somebody on the team "I am getting in the portal, get your business together".

Seriously what the hell? Nico was so overwhelmed he couldn't show up that Friday and talk it over with the coach, like his dad "encouraged him" to do?

Also, Nico's team demanded more weapons on offense and left after Heupel basically rebuilt the O-line and is basically turning over the entire WR group, also getting Boo more engaged on offense? What did he expect, for us to go poach Williams from Bama?

This article doesn't pass the smell test.
I believe the writer was told all these things. The reason it doesn’t pass the smell test is because Nico’s camp is lying.

Also I only just now realized that Sal Sunseri’s boy is the OC at UCLA.

The comments that look slanted to Nico is an attempt to lighten the damage that has been done.

But if you read between the lines - there was an attempt to hold Tennessee hostage, and it didn't work. He wasn't the primary reason why we won last year.
He was definitely not the primary reason we won last year, far from it. We won in spite of him last year.

So basically Nico couldn’t come in and meet with Huepel about it face to face. He felt that he was being painted as a “villain” even though most Tennessee fans stood behind him when the initial on3 information came out that he was in “active negotiations”. He then felt betrayed when the majority of the fanbase told Nakos to stick it? Yeah, good riddance.

It’s not a reflection on us. This a VERY compelling national story because every fan base is scared they will be next. It’s also Wednesday afternoon and the 4 letter network is out of WNBA interest stories.
Yeah I know and I really do like Chris Low. It just seems like we never get anywhere close to this kind of attention except when something blows up in the program.

Aren't most of the spyre folks lawyers anyway?

Also, TB and McKee both said the missed payments were payments not paid for missed obligations including PRACTICES, appearances and team meetings.

but you DO realize that over the last 15 years there have been a WAY larger number of embarrassing things to cover at Tennessee than positive ones. like it's not even close. the number of tragic things that have happened to this fan base is legendary.

I mean we JUST got to a 10 win season in 2022, first time since 2007. what the hell good has there been to talk about?

There have been plenty of positives to talk about with this staff since 2021. Heupel revived the program quickly, beat top 10 opponents, beat our rivals for the first time in years, beat multiple ranked opponents, and elevated recruiting. Also, I'm pretty sure Nico was the highest rated prospect UT had signed in years. All of that seems worthy of a headlining article or two in my mind, especially given what the program has been through since around 2007. I looked back for an article on Nico's commitment and the only thing I found was oddly buried in ESPN's Men's Basketball section.

there has been plenty of positive coverage of Tennessee in the last couple years since 2022. ESPN doesn't really cover college football or recruiting very much anyways, the suck the d1ck of the NFL only. These big websites are only going to cover something that is scandalous and gets clicks. nobody outside of Knoxville cares that Tennessee signed Nico. Nico may have been the best signing for Tennessee in years but tons of teams sign better players than Nico every year. what you consider a "good" thing doesn't even register on their radar.

I also felt like every game announcer and commentator was praising Nico last year as a possible Heisman candidate and I HATED ever time that happened because it was completely undue praise the guy had never done anything for Tennessee at that point it was just meaningless hot air speak. you could tell these guys knew absolutely nothing and were just reading the talking points they were given about Tennessee.

when Tennessee does something amazing we get great coverage like when we beat Bama in 2022 the whole country loved it. when we made the playoffs we got lots of good coverage. But you have to admit if you consider the last 15 years in total it's been 90% terrible news coming out of Knoxville, 5% yawn nobody cares and 5% truly newsworthy goodness.

That didn't happen.
And if it did, it wasn't that bad.
And if it was, that's not a big deal.
And if it is, that's not my fault.
And if it was, I didn't mean it.
And if I did, you deserved it.
Perfect synopsis! On top of everything, the article says he could have made an additional six figures by showing up to obligations and events, but he didn't want to. Dude could have made $3,000,000 a year doing what a guy did for tuition five years ago.

Let's get this straight.

Nico was not meeting some team and personal meetings nor answering some phone calls. His camp had also shopped his services all over the country.

Nico feels betrayed that the truth came out that he missed obligations and was shopping his services all around the country.

Being "betrayed" by the truth is better expressed as being guilty of what you're being accused of doing.

As the kids life to say: FAFO.

Also I get the vibe from this article that his Dad is trying to nudge him under the bus for the decision. "His Dad encouraged him to sleep on the decision." No one would have that info but Nico and his camp and it tosses the decision all on Nico. I'm not buying that.
Yeah if you read everything that has been published and piece things together, it seems more likely he may not have known so mcuh was going on behind his back. I'm 50/50 on how much he knew, or approved, of what his dad was doing. But, it has the appearance of being very scripted by the family, with Madden's immediate transfer the next day. That was pre-arranged. Which is stupid itself as Madden possibly had a chance to already claim #2 atleast at Arky right off the bat. But, they are from Cali, so it was prob a deal that if one goes home they all go so pops can keep his nose on everything easier.

But I do believe CJH was in a spot with him as to how donors were getting pissed for being ghosted and he wasn't honoring his contractual obligations for his money. I also beleive that at some point right at the end of the saga, CJH was given an ultimatum by the Nico camp, or maybe Nico himself, and coach said that ain't how this works.

Sad part in this whole saga is the light that is shed on the family now, and the fact that if Nico or Madden ever want to amount to anything or possibly even make a MFL roster with this baggage, they will have to ruin family relations to break free. Pops is definitely a family mafia boss. The boys do what they're told to do.
