Even that is too early to tell. The guy's only a rookie.

Look at the difference between Flacco last seaon and this pre-season. Leaps and bounds better.

Flacco was very, very good last season. I can't stand the Ravens, but I admit that Flacco is the real thing. He throws an effortless deep ball, makes good decisions, and has excellent accuracy. I don't think Sanchez is going to live up to his hype...but I don't think Stafford will, either, for what it's worth.

Gotta remember that Sanchez was surrounded by a team full of future NFL players at USC and his competition wasn't always top tier. Pro scouts get caught up in numbers and hype and don't look deeper just like college scouts do.

Why is everyone writing Ainge off? His only actaul action on the fie;ld wioth the Jets, he has done fairly well. I think he could be an NFL starter for the right team. He just needs a chance.

Wasn't impressed with Clemons play tonight.
As petty as it may sound I believe the Jets HC has a personality conflict with Ainge. He knows he's decent, but because of the formentioned Ainge will be the last option...what a tool...only a tool like that would be in the job after Favre killed this team...go Phins.

Freeman will be a starter in the near future IMO.

He's currently the #3 guy in Tampa. Doubtful that your prediction will come true.
There is slight chance that they could cut McCown (so they can keep Josh Johnson). If that happens, and Leftwich gets hurt, then Freeman might have a chance to see the field this year.
Also, who is Eric Ainge?

Just for the record, I hate the Jets and Trojans so i'm not pulling for him in any way. But the kid can ball.

He will have to learn to manage the blitz packages thrown at him. He has a lot to learn in this respect but what young guy doesn't at this point in his career.

The biggest problem I see him having is that he hasn't had the game situation experience most guys have coming out of college. He would benefit greatly from learning the position from a veteran his first year or two but that isn't the situation he finds himself in.

The fan base there can be brutal, especially on qb's. He will be thrown to the fire and we will soon know if he truly has what it takes to be a player. If he is going to do it I see it being more of a progession type situation, if he's going to be pro bowl caliber it will take three or four years. I don't think he will make a big splash in his first two years.

There are a few NFL teams that Ainge could start for. I look for Eric to be traded soon. Maybe a backup this year but he starts somewhere next year IMO. Right now, Ainge is better than the QBs for the 49ers, Dolphins, Broncos, Browns, Bucs, Colts--(joke).

I'm guessing that the poster is still a young guy. Perhaps he will improve as he posts more. It is amazing to me how much good writing has fallen off in the last ten years or so, although I couldn't give a reason for this.

Be careful of stones that you throw. 'Course you may be driving and typing, so you get a pass. :)

It baffles me that a guy who started roughly three years worth of games at UT can still have his name misspelled by his own fans.

It baffles me that you guys actually make such a big freaking deal if someone spells something wrong.

By "near future" I meant within a few years.

I didn't spell Erik's name wrong, the OP did.

I try to avoid making a big deal out of it unless the misspelled word is in a comment that insults the intelligence of a poster, fan base, group of people, etc.

At that point the irony overwhelms my good nature.

I would take the starting quarterback of every one of those teams before I took a chance on Erik Ainge.

And probably most of their backups.

One of the two live Stus on 1st and 10 just said that Ainge should be the starter for the Jets, fwiw.

Not surprised-----Since you obviously have a man crush on Sanchez. I don't know what game you saw last night, but Sanchez sucked. Jets desperately want Mark to be the man, otherwise it would make their first round drafting look inept----as usual. Pushing a guy that is not ready just accentuates the ineptitude. Jets are going nowhere. :snoring:

Exactly----It isn't that difficult to edit before posting. And dictionaries are relatively inexpensive. 'Course some of us are blessed with the ability to spot a mis-spelled word before hitting the submit button---and some of us just don't care.

I would like to see what Ainge would look like in Nashville instead of Patrick Ramsey, Collins is gone a year or two and Young will either turn it around or be traded, that would have been ideal for him
