For those interested this thread is about...contracts, job security and/or the ability to attain the same somewhere besides UT. It is about the debate of choosing school b over a, when school b offers you a longer contract.
It is about taking a pay cut to do the same job somewhere else for an extra couple of years, over being loyal to someone who either cannot or will not give you and your family security.
It is also about whether you deserve an extension based on performance.
Every thread turns into PRO or CON Dooley...that's not this.
Now we have one talking and it's relevent because it differs from what Dooley said...that's all.
Personally, the fact that Hart would give in coming coaches multi year deals and not extend contracts of coaches currently employed says quite a bit, some choose to ignore that, not me.
Okay...so are you saying that it's relevant because it casts doubt on CDD's honesty? You can't have it both ways--if Russell is legit, offering a different story than CDD--and relevant, as you say--then it may be deduced that you believe Russell's statements give evidence that CDD is not telling the truth--no other conclusion can be made from your comments.
However--I offer a different perspective: Russell left because he didn't get the job done at Tennessee--saw the writing on the wall--and went scrambling for a job from his 'ol buddy crazy horse--I mean Leach at WSU!
Just check the objective special teams data for UT last year--or just remember Palardy and Darr--2 great talents out of high school that Russell guided into worse-than-mediocre performances in college--then ask yourself one question--What would you say if someone stuck a microphone in your face and asked why you left a top 10 all time winning program in the best conference in the USA for WSU in Pullman, Washington?
Hart's multi-year deals for incoming coaches puts them in line with the length of CDD's contract...Hart expects CDD to win...and has supported CDD's hiring of these assistants!
Bottom line: We're better with the new coaching staff than at this time last year (except maybe Thompson). This will be CDD's 3rd year...8 regular season wins a must...and once again--who really gives a rat's azz what a subpar STC at WSU has to say about why he left UT! GO VOLS! :salute:
Troll be trolling. Sunshine pumpers be flaming and name calling when they don't have anything relevant to say.
Now you're talking out of both sides of your mouth...you stated earlier that Russell's comments were relevant--not because he chose school b over a--but because he said something different than CDD said about the reason he left for school b...which can be interpreted no other way than a veiled bash of CDD...
Did Russell deserve an extension to coach at UT based on ST performance? We ranked 10th in punting and 9th in kicking in the SEC--out of 12 teams--no matter how you will attempt to spin it--Eric Russell wasn't getting the job done for UT...and now I believe him when he says he left because of coaching stability--he didn't have any security or stability at UT because he couldn't get it done...objective data doesn't lie!
I'm done--shoulda quit when you gave more credibility to Russell than you do to our current head coach...
And to answer one of your other posts--Yes--Sunseri, Palermo, Pittman, et. al. much better coaching experience and resumes than departing puss-12 girls....
It's not a question of honesty #1, it's Coach speak. If you saw my other post...Dooley hired him because of what he did at Texas Tech, and it's not "scrambling for a job", because Leach is hiring him for the second time, based on the first time, presumably...Leach could offer something Dooley(or Hart) could not or would not, SECURITY.
In terms of the kicking game, I agree with bassman on many points, though I'm not into the execution, j/k...
I hope that you are right, and the staff is better....BUT, the fact that you, yourself puts an 8 game goal, provides proof that our last STC was right in his comment, no?
Say what you will--you are unmistakeably using Russell's comments to question CDD's honesty.
And, no--my 8 game goal doesn't validate Russell's comments--I'm not your straw-man! It's just MY expectation for the upcoming year--I also expected 8 wins last year, and believe we could've won 8 if Bray and Hunter would have stayed healthy (beaten UGA, SC, and KY)!
If you go back and look at my prior posts--I am an unapologetic CDD fan and do believe he should be given through the 2014 year to FAIRLY assess his coaching ability. However, nothing in this world is fair, especially when coaching 19-22 year olds in the SEC.
If he thinks it was a gamble to stay than so be it..... but honestly if you want to win games in a competitive league you have to have a pair, and if you don't believe in your own ability to succeed than Im pretty sure we didn't want him here anyway regardless of how well we do next year.
I'm starting to think that folks think what's gone on here is normal. It's not. Seven coaches leaving, terminated, retiring, in one off season, is not the norm.
Peter Sirmon doesn't have a pair? Baggett? Wilcox?
A true Negavol is someone who is so hell bent on being right on an internet board, that they want to see the team, that they claim to love, fail.
Only to be able to say "I told you so". Just like a 5 year old on the playground
This whole Nega-Vol thing has me perplexed. Just because someone is angry that the team (they obviously Love and care enough about to go on the internet and criticize) is not performing as Everyone here wants them to, they are labeled as a Nega-Vol. I'm just curious as to where this started, as I have have never heard of a Nega-Tide, Nega-Gator, Nega-Tiger, etc... I believe this whole Nega-Vol stance has been created by some sort of mole, and it seems to be working. That being said, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it must have been started by a certain network, since they f****** hate us.
Clearly these coaches were jumping at a chance for more stability and long term contracts. I really hope no one here needed to see this article to realize as much.
Unlike some of the hardcore Dooley-bashers however, I think this coaching exodus had more to do with coaches seeking job security and less to do with confidence in Dooley. Either way, this shouldn't be news...
