So he goes to Wash State where winning doesn't matter all that much. But then you have to be willing to live in Pullman to get that gig. Was not impressed with Coach Russell. Probably will be with Coach Coiner by all reports.

So basically, he had no confidence in himself, his players, or his coaching staff.

I don't think we'd want a guy like that anyway.

I'd like to put two points out there.

1. Dooley said of Russell's departure, that he wanted to be on the west coast, with his old boss...more or less. What Russell says now, contradicts Dooley.

2. Hart gave 2 or 3 year deals to the new hires, but would not extend the contracts of those already on board. So I don't think it speakes to Russell's lack of confidence in himself, more to the lack of confidence either Hart and Dooley had in him and the others OR that he and the others PERCIEVED that the writing was on the wall.

Does it really surprise anyone? This is why they all left....make up whatever helps you sleep at night, but no one has any faith in Dooley whatsoever.

Fortunately for Russell, when anyone thinks of Washington St, it is not going to come down to how many games they win next year ... or any year for that matter.

Or that's what Russell told Dooley upon turning in his resignation?

This story cant go over well with the die hard Doolaid drinkers. I said all along, closer to home my a**! Cant blame them for leaving, even TJ left us for the children of the corn. I just hope at the end of this year, when they look back, they realize they missed out on something special.

Sadly, there is a lot of truth to this.

This year he's going to change a lot of peoples mind though, I just know it!!!! At least I hope.

1. Not like Dooley is gonna stand up and say "he thought I was a failure."

2. Hart had to give those deals to hire them. He is not going to commit more resources than he has to to a regime he clearly doesn't believe in.

What would you say if you were in his position?

My contract will be up, Hart won't extend it and my old boss is gonna give me a three year deal...translation...

I miss the west coast.

Clearly these coaches were jumping at a chance for more stability and long term contracts. I really hope no one here needed to see this article to realize as much.

Unlike some of the hardcore Dooley-bashers however, I think this coaching exodus had more to do with coaches seeking job security and less to do with confidence in Dooley. Either way, this shouldn't be news...

I listened to that entire interview when it aired on the radio here.
He spoke very highly of coaching in the SEC in general. He said in the radio interview he left to coach with Mike Leach who had coached with before.

What station did you hear it on, please and tia?.

Tennessee has more winning tradition in the parking lots of Neyland than Wash. State will EVER DREAM ABOUT! :salute:

So...to think 6 coaches left, not including Baggett, on their own accord for pastures less green says what?

ok, take thompson out too, Bama as much as I hate them, has similiar tradition.
