Eric Berry: Things will change guys, I promise/Eric got screwed (merged)

nothing personally. I just hate how they / he act like his poo dosent stink. he is anything but humble, and needlessly circumcising a bunch of African orphans dosent make you a great guy it makes you a chode.

You have some issues if your views are that warped.

Well conceived and even better said.

I'm annoyed that Berry wasn't recognized by the Thorpe voters for his terrific season. Individual awards don't mean much in the scheme of things, but I don't understand how Berry doesn't win this - unless the committee put upperclassman as the key criterion. Perhaps winning record was important to them - but you must admit that is odd for individual awards.

I'm not screaming at ESPN, because it isn't their decision. I'm just confused by this result...and would have liked for Eric to be recognized for what he is doing out there. I feel like he tried to carry this team at times out there...and they didn't reward him with wins...this would have at least been a crappy consolation for him...and he didn't even get that.

Hey, Tebows a good kid and a great role model for kids. Bashing him and wishing ill will on him makes you look like "a tool". I am a diehard Vols fan and lothe the gators, but I wish there were more Tebows playing the game and less "thugs" like pacman and vick.

I agree. Tim Tebow is a Gator, and a rabid one. That's about the worst I can say about him.

He's also a Christian, and by all accounts, a model one, and a model son, and a model student, and a model athlete, etc, etc, etc.

Got no problem with Tim Tebow. None at all. I'm still a UT fan, but I'm also a Tim Tebow fan. Tim is all about what's right, in the middle of "what's wrong with college football".

"Role models" are hard to come by in college football, and all but extinct in the NFL.

Give Tim Tebow the credit he is due.

And Go Vols.

Thank you. Tebow is an incredible human being; we are looking rather classless around here

i agree with all of that, and just to add it was the fact that he singlehandedly won games for us this year. his numbers did not lie and he deserved this more than any other db.

Did numbers always tell the story about Deion Sanders shutting down one side of the field?

I think you summed it up perfectly.

Berry got screwed tonight. Malcolm Jenkins sucks compared to Eric Berry. Berry is arguably the best ballhawk at safety ever in college football. He is certainly the best since Ed Reed.

its just that there are a lot of arguments out there about tebow winning the heisman this year because he carried the team on his back to victory over an undefeated alabama to get to a NC. his numbers are not impressive compared to the other 3 of the top 4 heisman hopefuls, but i can count a number of times that berry won us ball games this year, and a lot of people on here throughout this season were counting on berry and our defense to win ball games for us. so a thorpe would have been a good thank you for posting those kinds of numbers and making a significant contributor to his team's success. if he doesn't become a dentist i think he will look like deion some day. i like to think he can be compared to ed reed and bob sanders in a few years.

Screw the stupid Big 10 college football popularity contests represented by all these bogus awards. It's the same Big 10 bias that keeps sending 2 of their teams to BCS games every year so the SEC and Pac 10 (mostly USC) can spank them.

Berry will get his justice for being THE superior player in the same way Peyton has.

First, in the NFL draft, when he's rewarded with more $$ and then in years thereafter as he's selected for Pro Bowls by his peers.

The League will set things right for this Vol legend in the making and for the years of devotion and work he has given to perfect his game.

EB... you represent all things good about Tennessee football and you always will. We know that... and we won't forget.

Most importantly, congratulations on your well-earned selction on the Walter Camp All American Team! (yet anothernAA team!):rock2:

Now, get ready to give 'em hell in Spring practice, show your teammates what playing physical means, and let's get the program back on track!

Go Vols!

This idiot Terrell Buckley was saying the Thorpe trophy goes to the most versatile player In his opinion ... HELLO EVER HEARD OF ERIC BERRY he scored over 75% of the time he got a turnover. He led the FBS in Interceptios and you give it to this guy....WOW fine next year Thorpe award and HEISMAN>>>>>>>>>>> It was ESPN afterall we know they hate Tennessee. GO VOLS

Terrell Buckley was pissed off when he saw Eric's stats, which is 14 yards away from smashing his NCAA record. He figured out he got to do something to keep his glorious reputation, so here you go.

I emailed Thorpe and ask them to ask the voters to explain how berry didnt win to save their reputation. im sure they will. EB we know everbody knows remember that

Are you serious about this absurdly obscure record?

Amen brother. Robbed.

We learned in '97 from the Heisman voters that these awards are way too subjective and ultimately a popularity contest. OSU is on TV (ESPN) more so Jenkins gets the nod from clueless voters. Don't worry thoughm they'll look real smart when McCoy torches Jenkins and his boys for 500 plus yards in a few weeks.
