Enough with the excuses!

What am I eating crow for? We had them

We had them? We played hard and had chances to make it a game but really couldn't. They were in control from opening kickoff. Doesn't surprise anybody that you're arrogant even when proven wrong. You should take your medicine.

U mad my predictions are right and I'm not afraid to win? Clown.

Your predictions aren't remotely close and when you get called on them you're not man enough to admit you're wrong. Afraid to win my ass. You're a joke to anybody who reads your ridiculous posts.

I have no problem admitting when I'm wrong. But what have I been wrong about so far? That score was skewered and we most certainly could have won.

People need to realize, especially the haters but some of our fans aren't so innocent either, that these "excuses" are legitimate reasons why we've been down. What Lane Kiffin and Dooley did to this program really ruined it. Now Butch is doing a good job, and has worked his ass off lately and I feel as if we'll have our first turnaround year next year. However, people that are saying "quit making excuses" need to realize these aren't just your typical excuses, they're legitimate reasons that would destroy any program temporarily.

Agree with you 100% . There is a difference between a reason and an excuse. Butch has made no excuses and all indications are that that the team and coaches had every intention of winning this game . The fact that we have soooo many freshmen starting in the pivotal O line ...is a reason . Our O line did a legit job against one of the best D's in the country. Their failures were predictable by coaches , fans , and media .

It is also predictable that these O linemen will improve over the season . 18 year olds can do amazing things in terms of stregth and agility over 1 month and they can do incredible things with repetitions in that time frame. The entire team from Worley , special teams , to defense has improved massively . It is very reasonable to think these Olinemen will improve given time

They weren't in control when our guys scored in the second qtr. They put a decent drive together right after that, but that fumble should've counted and they may have ended up down by 1 at halftime. Instead, the D was letdown and gave up a score.

Hell, they didn't even have the game completely in hand after the first interception in the endzone. It took the pick six to put the Vols away.

So when you make a prediction it's not the ACTUAL score that counts but the POSSIBILITY of a win? Because you said we would not lose by more than 13 all year. OU won by 24. The fact that we COULD have won is irrelevant.

I am curious, why was the score skewered?

I was wrong about the score, technically, but sane people know that if a few plays unfold differently who knows what would have happened. I think that we would of finished them off at their place and walk ed out of there with a w. People said that OU would blow us away and they didn't. They dominated our o line and we still could have won. And you know why? Because these players fear no one.

Nationdom, there's not a doubt in my mind that you love the Vols, but results are just that, results.

We did not win the OU game, but the team was vastly improved compared to the last 2 years. Our O-Line faced NFL talent that has some S&C time under its belt. The D held an explosive offense in check. Do I think that we around the corner? NO. But I do see a huge amount of positives and expect that we will all the games that we are expected to win and a 1 or 2 that we are not. Young, talented, and motivated is a powerful mix.

Well, you said we wouldn't lose by more than 13 pts to OU....we lost by 24

You said "anyone who thinks OU blows UT out is clueless". Hate to tell you, but 24 points is considered a blowout pretty much everywhere, especially in Vegas.

You said Josh Sweat is a virtual lock to come to UT after Kahlil Mackenzie committed to us and anyone who disagreed was "in over his head". Meanwhile, Sweat didn't even have us listed in his final top 5.

Wrong....and arrogant.

Going back to Fulmer "we're a young team" and his banter with "the next recruiting class" to Dooleys "we're young bla bla bla" Now, we have Butch following the same pattern! Well, those players should be parents of Jr. High kids by now and all these great recruits should be winning us NCs! No more year zero and other slogans because as of last year Butch and the team got rung all season long beginning with Oregan and let GA off the hook and that's not counting the loss against Fla. I say no more excuses and no more pumping sunshine!

unlike dooley butch jones doesn't use the we're young line as a excuse its facts! everyone knows we're young everytime as the young guys get older then older guys are leaving and we are starting over...look at aj johnson and worley will be leaving after this year! so have to start a new QB and another line backer it's life we are on the right track just enjoy the ride and lay off the whiskey
