A person can get to a point that they are content in life and an extra million doesn't change anything for them, but it puts them in a place that they aren't comfortable with or potentially would force them to leave friends, coworkers, and family that they care about. Money won't drive everyone. I'm not saying that you can't make an offer, but just because you offer more doesn't mean they would leave.Anybody will leave anywhere if the wages are high enough.
I definitely would not move for an extra 1 million either if I were he.A person can get to a point that they are content in life and an extra million doesn't change anything for them, but it puts them in a place that they aren't comfortable with or potentially would force them to leave friends, coworkers, and family that they care about. If I was the DC at Ohio State, you couldn't pay me enough to leave for a lateral job. His job is safe. Recruiting is locked in so he doesn't have to worry about talent. His head coach trust him. An extra million to move to a job where you might be fired in 2 or 3 years and even potentially blamed for a bad year and fired early doesn't seem that appealing to me if I'm in a position like he is.
We should definitely offer then, just to make OSU spend more money. Doesn't have to be on the field to screw with themWhy would he leave Ohio State for Tennessee? As I said last week, some of you all have a misplaced sense of where Tennessee fits in the college football landscape. Ohio State would match and probably exceed anything Tennessee offered from a monetary standpoint.
