Empty Neyland Movement (#uncluttervolnation)

It will end things like #emptyNeyland and the nightly "Tennessee's AD is an idiot for not firing Jones" that comes across national media.

I don't know if you do national media or not, but the UTAD gets roasted daily on various national programs and websites for the handling of this situation. I don't think Currie believed it would get this bad. But it has and he owns it.

Why should it end #emptyNeyland if this is about getting things fixed? You are still woefully short.

We don't have an issue firing coaches, we have a bad history of what comes next.

IF, Currie pulls off the right guy no one here or in California will be talking about how long Jones was allowed to stay.

Tennessee seniors address #EmptyNeyland campaign by fans

SIAP. But from the link: “I understand their frustration to a certain extent, we’re the ones playing the games,” Robertson said. “At the same time, I’m a senior from the state of Tennessee. I love this place. When I came here, it was to play in front of a great fan base like we have. So, only thing I’d say to them is, ‘We appreciate the support they’ve given us this year. We look forward to them giving us the same type of support.’”

If anyone still thinks this emptyNeyland crap is still something you are willing to do, then turn in your big orange fan card and go be a fan of another team.

Not attending and no thank you on being a fan of another team. When you have one voice left, you use it. Don't blame the fans, blame Currie. It's his show.

Better for recruiting (even more so now with early signing period) better for team morale, and I guess better for fan morale. All this outweighs doing nothing.

How does it do anything to recruiting? We gonna start getting new commits with Hoke at the helm?

Team morale is not a problem, don't confuse that with being poorly coached.

Fan morale is like the weather

This is a result of not the last 2 months, it's a result of the last 15 years. It's finally gotten to the point of being too much to take for a large large number of people. Before South Carolina I hadn't missed a home game for a non-medical issue in 30 years. I didn't go to it and I am not going Saturday. I went to Tuscaloosa and I went to Lexington last week, as I am a Vol and will spend money at other stadiums to support the team. I won't do so in Neyland any longer unless Butch is removed.

I love Tennessee and have donated countless hours of my life at home and on road trips and well into six figures in cash over the last 3 decades.

I'm tired of the appearance that they do not care about anything but the donations. This is their last chance with me to fix that. It would start with an announcement regarding Jones.

My opinion is mirrored by a now significant portion of the fan base and donors, some of whom invest far more than I into the program. We're sick of the dysfunction. We're sick of the ineptitude. We're sick of the hands out for money 24/7/365 attitude without the commitment to winning football.

so the only positive it has is diffusing a movement that you and yours created and supported?

hm. let me think about that for a minute. feels like a chicken/egg conundrum....

yep, we're back to "it would make me feel better".

so that's a good reason too? i refer you to my "thin skinned coward" analysis from earlier.

This is not aimed at you but the quote in your post. I don't know what a fan card is and i think it is arrogant to tell someone to turn theirs in. I dont tend give loyalty to those that demand it. AS for Mr Robertson he should be concentrating on his studies and becoming a more complete football player. Not worrying about why people dont want to show up to watch another Butch Jones **** show.

No I blame fans like you who support this garbage. You go to games to support the players. They are playing. Currie is not. Obviously you and the others who support this, want the players to just give up on Tennessee football. Thats just sad.

and i get that. i agree. the fans are the only ones that have been here thru all of it. i do get that and agree.

but this AD has been on the job for 6 months.

Everybody has a story. I have friends and family that played for UT.

Most in this group have their focus in the wrong place and are completely naive to think Butch Jones coaches here next season.

Outside of Gruden and maybe one other, who can UT hiring before the season is over?

And to one of my orginal questions,

Why should Jones being fired yday mean you should go to the game Saturday or any of the others? As in before UT names it's next coach?

But doesnt his qoute kill the whole " we are doing it for the players narrative?"
You now have a players opinion on the subject.

Once again, John Currie could end it all today. Simple and easy, if he's gone, let it be known. Even if he's going to coach til the end of the season. Let it be done.

If any of you can name a single positive for letting this swing out there with no word from Currie, I'd love to hear it.

Currie and the lack of any action and the fact of Jones possibly saving his job if he wins out is what is SAD!!! I get what you are saying about the players. But, the players know if people don't show its not about them. In fact, the players deserve much better than what this AD is giving them and if boycotting the games gets that done then so be it. I think they are old enought to understand this.

The player angle is very overrated. The players were overjoyed when Dooley was let go. They want to improve and they want to win. They aren't stupid and realize what this is about.

The end is when he hires a legit football coach that fixes this.

That's the entire 15 year point.

I'm referring to most people returning to the stadium for Saturday. If Butch is gone, just announce it. If you're keeping him, announce it and let those chips fall. If you haven't decided yet, the program is absolutely about to be burned to the ground.

Hyams and Wilkerson are poo-pooing this. More proof of the AD spinning it through the local media. Hyams said he looks for around 65,000 in the stands for Southern Miss. 38,000 empty seats on an average of just 20 dollars on concessions is $760,000 dollars in lost revenue on that alone. Lessened merchandise sales from those people make a big impact. There are also around 35,000 non-season tickets. I'd guess 15,000 of those won't be purchased. I think 13,000 of those are student tickets. It quickly adds up towards a few million in lost revenue per game.

I think there will be poor attendance simply because...

1. We S.U.C.K. to the nth degree
2. Homecoming/Crappy Opponent
3. Weather (~ 60% chance of rain. This combined with # 1 will be the major reasons for very low attendance.

Not many families will want to invest in a meaningless game in the rain only to waste a Saturday.

So make decision because people are pissed? Who gives a $#!+ if it's the right decision?

Sounds like your looking for more of the same results. I'm ready for somebody to get it right. If that takes til Thanksgiving so be it.

Do you honestly think they are even entertaining the idea of bringing him back? Assuming he even wants to?

The players are not small children. They understand what's going on. The worst part for the players is that they are not being developed. We have ton's of 5 * Recruits that haven't gotten any better under Butch and co.

Agree with me or disagree, but I will not attend the game this weekend or the rest of the season until Butch is gone. I will not buy gear until he is gone.

For the record, I have 3 tickets to this weekends game. I'm not using them and I'm not selling them. Add those 3 seats the the rest of the empty seats
