Empty Neyland Movement (#uncluttervolnation)

I grew up in Tennessee. I now live in California. I have been a huge Vol fan my entire life. I am going to be in East Tennessee next weekend with the opportunity to go to the game. I was really hoping I could go but with Butch still being the coach as of today there is no way I will go.

Sucks for you, cause this current situation in Knoxville makes those California liberals look sane.

The bandwagon fans bought Bama gear 10 years ago. The real fans are all that is left.

This. It's hilarious when people suggest that any vols fan could be a bandwagon fan. We've been sec bottom feeders for years now, only real fans left at this point.

My car gets over 300 miles a tank, no money spent in knoxville on gas.

But i do have 2 USMC birthday balls over the next month. Tough to go but i could get one in.

Show up to mizzu and I'll hook ya'll up.

We are doing Thanksgiving that weekend as a family. Let me know if you can make it.

You must never go to the games

Nope. I'm broke and also have to work. I had season tickets in 2015 and still only went to half. I don't think I went to any last year, but I've gone to both spring games in 2016 and this year. Sorry, as a full time college student that also works 40-50 hours a week, I rarely have the time or money to go to a game. That said, if given the tickets for free, I would find a way out of work. Not everyone that loves UT football gets to make it to the games.

Ill see what i can do. We had a recent death in the family that might make it tough to get away on Thanksgiving weekend.
But ill let you know. I love going to vols games, dont care what the sitiation is. All this empty neyland and boycott whatever is nonsense.

Reminds me of college kids that gp on hungar strikes to prove a point or people that camp in parks with sign, because they dpnt want to work

They deserve to play in crowded loud stadiums. That's important.

I would hope that unlike KY last night, UT would have enough sense to ban the piped in noise in a half empty stadium. Their garbage was almost as loud as the announcers, and far more irritating. At least if you switched to MSU-TAM the background noise was the crowd - like football is meant to be.

What recruiting class?
They are all leaving not wanting to play for Butch.

And Tennessee's AD let's him continue to coach.

Sheep will be sheep. And that's ok

Let us wolfs hunt.

You don't think players flocking to winning teams aren't sheep following the herd? The tougher road by far is the desire to make something better of a poor situation. Before you jump on that - no need to follow a losing ship down, but do have the intelligence to expect that change is in the wind. And, yeah, Currie hasn't had the intelligence to go there - just another damn bean counter in over his head.

Butch will not coach next year and it doesnt take fans acting childish to make that happen. Just cause things dont happen on your timeline doesnt mean you have to sit in the corner and pout.

And im an og negavol bro.

We were negavoling together. If the administration was competent, you'd be right.

We were negavoling together. If the administration was competent, you'd be right.

Ill give them the chance to prove it. I dont doubt people until they give me a reason not to. Currie was put there for a reason. He know alot more than us about the situation, money, behind the scene talks, who is interested and who is not. So ill be patient with that. There is no way CBJ is here next year. So if waiting till December saves the AD a few million to put toward a new coach that Currie has already gauged interest from, im good with that.

He brings in another Dooley or Petrino and obviously, he needs to go.

Butch Jones STOLE checkered Neyland from the fans. Let's give him the fans vote on him.

Us as fans have a vote. I hope, hope, hope this has been enough for Currie. But let's show no doubt.

There is a #emptyneyland going. Fans get behind this leave no doubt on what we will tolerate.
We all are screaming to fire Butch, fire Currie.

It's simple join empty Neyland movement if Butch remains head coach through tomorrow midday.

This will force the change that is needed. And the fans only vote.

Burn tickets on social media. Tag in Currie,Jones, and sports media outlets.

We all support the players. Let's help them remove the man (Butch Jones) that is hurting their development and causing them losses.

Yes what a great signal to our recruits we are trying to keep from jumping overboard nice knee-jerk..Ignorance is bliss.

The problem is that the stadium experience and the "vibe around campus" are shadows of what they can be when we are a competitive football team. Apathy has firmly set in.

Yes apathy has set in for him. Maybe he should just walk around the stadium on game day, for the experience.

This isn't a damn divorce with young kids. As a former collegiate and professional athlete who has been through this kind of thing multiple times, the players aren't dumb or fragile so quit treating them like they are. They know the coach is a joke and about to get fired, they also know its not about them. Having a home crowd is great, but they play for each other and the team first, and with nothing left to play for I promise they don't care if the stadium is full or empty.
Thats right. Kids play in front of a lot of empty seats on every level. They aren't as wussified as fans make them out to be

Okay, 4 hour drive. I promise to eat outside of Knoxville and could easily make it an hour or so south before getting a hotel.

So....no money spent in Knoxville, accomplishes the same thing as someone who has purchased tickets but is not going.
Don't be filling up at Pilot either 😜

I get what you are saying and don't disagree with any of the sentiment of not showing up for the games.

I did the same thing after Fulmer let Alabama take over Neyland in 2008.

Jones has been far more embarrassing to this program than Fulmer and has zero equity for my loyalty as a coach. He wasn't alumni or play for the program, he wasn't associated with the program in any way prior to showing up for the money. He was just another hired mercenary who was courting with us and 3 or 4 other schools for that 8 figure contract.

Back to the topic.

My point is, if your tickets are already paid for, you're not harming the University with ticket sales.

Even if an #emptyNeyland movement takes off, most of the blue hairs in the lower sections are showing up anyway so you'll not get the effect of an empty stadium on tv.

So, instead of turning your tickets into Buddhist monks and immolating them for the cause of getting rid of Botch, give them to someone less fortunate.

Besides, if people really want to start making the University feel the effects of Butch induced apathy, stop responding to the contribution letters and turn in the season tickets and all the donations that goes with getting them.

Wouldn't worry about that, too much --

until I hear it otherwise, and from his mouth, according to Butch Jones, he's been around long enough (30 yrs) / he's smart enough to have figured out (wink), in his mind, what the kids and recruits are really looking at and judging him on (and apparently, he thinks it / his $4m salary and ability to lead a large program on-field has nothing to do with his win loss record) --

Kids judge you by your car,” Jones told the Knoxville newspaper. “It’s crazy.”"

Yep, he's figured it all out.

Eventually the AD will figure out what FANS (ultimately) judge the Head Coach by (and it's not by his car) --

"you know, my job is to spend just as much energy thinking about what’s the long-term situation for our program — not from a football program wins-and-losses standpoint, but about the kind of facility improvement that has to be done now for the next 50 years" J. Currie.

Yep, it's gonna take some time it appears.

I think that if he is gone for next week we sell out Neyland so that the team knows we support them and that all of volnation has their backs!
