Empty Neyland Movement (#uncluttervolnation)

It’s simple, simpleton.

You don’t go to the game to show the AD that we, the fans, have the power. We are the money, therefore we are the power.

It tells them to invest as much as we invest. Hire a good coach and the recruits will be running back to us.

Twitter and hashtag movements have to be one of the best and dumbest / worst ideas in the history of modern technology.

#emptyneyland is NOT catastrophic, it was and is inevitable. Completely necessary. If a customer is completely unsatisfied with a product, they don't buy it or support it anymore. That is what UT football is right now. It is a product that the consumer doesn't want anymore. It is already a catastrophe.

Stop blaming everything on the fans. The head coach already does this. He blames his players and the fan base for everything negative.

Real fans want change and this is a positive thing.

Surely any coach with a brain would view empty Neyland as a sign that UT has a powerful, passionate fan base that wants and deserves better and that they are just literally fed up.

I'm more concerned that a great coaching candidate might view UT as a place where the administration isn't completely devoted to winning at a high level.......

What do you think this strategy will do to recruiting?

How do you think coaching candidates will view this?

I am all for it if you say, "If CBJ is still here at the beginning of the 2018 season, then we will have a #EmptyNeyland campaign"

That is fine because you have put it out there that this will happen if he is still here, but to want to do it more than half way through the season with a recruiting class that is already crumbling is the dumbest thing I have seen.

These young men that are playing on that field have done nothing to deserve this. There are some out there that only have a handful of football games left in Neyland, but also a handful left that they will ever play again.

I want CBJ gone just as bad as the rest of you, but this campaign is going to do nothing but hurt our program even more.

Solution, fire Butch 3 weeks ago.

Yep, yep , yep

This movement only shows a championship level coach that the fans are committed to becoming a great program again.
Despite the administrations best efforts to be mediocre.

What is worse than agony ? Apathy.

If recruits see fans are mad at embarrassing product I do not think it is the worst thing. What is 'the worst' is if recruits see fans are apathetic about their football team being at Vandy and KY level.

Let me know how many recruits want to come play for a team where if you lose fans stop showing up....

Let me know when recruits wanna play for a failing coach. This class was falling apart before the empty Neyland stuff started. If you wait to force the AD's hand in this then all you are doing is delaying the inevitable. The media constantly blasting the University over their hesitation to fire him impacts recruiting more than the passionate fans that won't see the current team flail around aimlessly.

Bama expanded the stadium under Mike Shula. Seems like a silly thing to do if "they were giving away tickets."

Yes they did Shula had 2 good years, one year under him Alabama was ranked #1

Alabama thought they had a winner again in Shula.

I'm speaking of the decline

Dude if the administration and AD is happy with mediocrity, that doesn't mean fans HAVE to follow suit.

The sad fact of the matter is that coaches sort of a have an unlimited amount of games to coach in. These players don't. So if having an empty stadium expedites the coaching change process, it benefits the kids.

If we land a coach that can be competent (Butch isn't) and can develop players (Butch cannot), while maintaining a good recruiting class, it only serves the players better. Both in the short term and long term.

You think these players are happy having to be underdogs to the likes of Kentucky and having to compete with Vandy and Mizzou to get to a bowl?

Really? You think the players have nothing to do with the state of the program? Are they coached to jump offsides on the one yard line? Are they encouraged to play soft up front? Let receivers behind them on the last play of the game? Drive around with illegal drugs in their car?

I'm completely done with Jones and agree that he has failed miserably. However, the players ABSOLUTELY deserve their share of blame.

Who are you to tell people to spend valuable time and money on a meaningless game that will more than likely be painful to watch?

I agree with everyone in saying that he should be fired already 100%.

I just don't think this is going to do some magic that everyone things it will do. I think it will hurt more than do good.

Wouldn't that fall under CBJ's inability to develop players? Undercoaching? Besides the arrest of course.

They're off to a terrible start

Get out of the video game mindset that all you have to do is click on a name and that person is going to be hired, and use some common sense that a turnover in the administration takes time to get things implemented, and just going around axing people with no plan (which I would bet anything Currie has been working on) is not a good way of doing it.

You are completely naive if you don't think that Davenport has not had meetings with her staff and assistant Chancellors and people to set a plan/vision and figure out how to go about it. Just because it didn't happen at the whim of loudmouths on message boards doesn't mean it isn't going on.

Gotta believe every time John Currie reads this tripe he giggles, opens up this years ticket sales records, then outright laughs his ass off. UTAD has already banked this years ticket sales. This just punishes the current players and the local vendors. It does hurt concessions granted, but you can show up to the game and hurt concessions too.
