Lies of P's problem was there is no in-between. Bosses are either too hard, or you summon your helper and they become trivial.

I also got a way OP weapon later in the game. Wasn't much challenge left after that.

Welp I fired this back up. Started a whole new game in anticipation for the DLC.

I thought about going the NG+ route, or just keeping my same character, but I don't want to be OP for it. I want it to be hard.

Plus I have a month. May as well relive it all in its truest form.

Also, on this playthrough, I was reminded of just how much I despise Rennala. I never want to see her again, two times of beating her is enough for my lifetime.

I was dreading facing her again to begin with, and for good reason.

Out of all the bosses the game throws at you… the moon queen is the one you can’t tolerate? Whew. That was easy compared to a lot of the others.

I genuinely don't know why, it has to be just a mismatch with my play style or something. She gives me absolute hell every time.

In both playthroughs I struggled with her more than any other boss in the game (besides Melania of course)

That’s shocking but style does mean a lot. My oldest son, who is a far better player than me, struggled with that Santa Claus looking dude from the DS3 DLC but I beat him on my 2nd try and almost did on my 1st.

I’m about halfway through. It is brutally hard. Summons make it easier, and I don’t like using them.. but even I have had to resort to it with a boss or two this dlc. Malenia is the only boss the entire base game made me use a summon for

Man, this "DLC" is gigantic. FromSoft is building a huge audience for their future games now (massive amounts of content creation out there) and they are not losing quality because they reuse what works and get rid of what doesn't (mostly).

Plus, anyone who finishes one FromSoft game gets big-brain-boosted game sense from then on and you just know better how to learn bosses and get through the map next time.

Final boss was a bit hefty, but really enjoyable. Finally did a sorcerer build for DLC and that’s definitely the easiest and the cheesiest way to get it done. The perfume bottle ashes of war were also a lot of fun (but seemed nerfed a good bit now).

I was on journey 9, so without percentage-based damage I was never getting through that health bar. Loading my summons up with hefty rot pots and uplifting aromatics to spam really made it not too bad.

I've been impressed with folks who went in without a summons and a colossal weapon and played pretty close to perfect. That's well beyond my available skill as a nearly senior gamer.

All of my playthroughs have been on PS5, which has been great. I haven't hit a situation where I felt a keyboard/mouse would have been preferred. Series X should run it great too.

Definitely not a top-10 of all time type game but it’s a really good game and I’m definitely in for any DLC and sequel. Lies of P is the subject for anyone catching up later.

Jumping in late here but the DLC is awesome. They did a great job of making a not-so-huge map feel pretty huge. The verticality and the "hey, do I get up/down there?" aspect of looking at distant vistas is extremely well done.

So, trying to finish up erdtree and yesterday I had consort Radahn down to essentially no health, he could have been potentially been dead at that point. AFTER that point, I landed two massive blows just to be sure and got ready to celebrate. Inexplicably, he did not die, but instead housed me. It’s the first time in a from game that I legitimately got screwed.

But a few moments ago I got my revenge! 💪

Not being able to get another ending by walking through the same gate that Marika once did was maybe my only complaint. That would have been epic, but my guess is that it didn't fit the lore. There isn't just a line of Elden Beasts on the other side waiting to inhabit a mortal and make them a god. Also, it would probably only work for a Shaman.
