Local TV just did a story on David Harrison out of Brentwood that was playing big time NBA ball up until 3 years and now lives on the street. Makes ya thankful for what you got.

I watched him go nuts in the Arbys Classic, but his team still dropped 2 our 3 games I believe. He was a dominant force in HS.

Do you have a link or anything to this story?

If this is true I feel for the guy. Losing someone your that close to is devastating. Some handle it OK and some can't handle it at all. Sounds to me like he's not handling it at all (I'm sure I wouldn't either) and is suffering from depression. Sadly, as you have witnessed, depression can be debilitating. Money is not the real problem and a job would be difficult for him to hold down (in his current situation). What he really needs is help. He's in a dark place right now and life probably seems meaningless/hopless to him. I guess like someone said previously, the best thing you can do is be a friend. You even have a good conversation starter with the UT connection. This is a very difficult situation, I'll say a prayer for both of you guys. I really hope things work out.

I pray that i never have to experience the loss of a child or my wife for that matter. It just goes to show you that you dont know how you will react to something of that nature. I hope eueryone has a good Christmas.

I watched my dad lose my mom last August after 47 years of marriage. It's not pretty and it crushed me to watch the old man have to go through it. He didn't (doesn't) know how to cook, keep house, etc. He only knew where the washer & dryer were because he had to fix 'em several times. The deep freeze isn't the only thing that sits empty after the loss of a love like that..........

Merry Christmas everybody....cherish the ones you love.

There was a post that had a website with the yearbook on it and I believe he was in it. Maybe a picture of the team not in uniform.

IIRC, wasn't he the son of a Titan coach or something like that? If true, I can't believe he'd just be out on the street.

My parents are from Halls, TN
My Uncle lives in Crockett Co

There isn't much there but a big Salvage Yard. I think their football team is pretty atrocious. But I bet I know which Gas Station the OP seen this guy at.

Agreed. Social Services, Habitat for Humanity, etc. are all there for a reason. That would be the best way to help but a person has to be willing to accept the help.

Maybe some local churches could help him out. If churches would do their job's their would be no need for Habit, Social Services, or the Red Cross! Just a thought..........

No one knows for sure he was even on the team and if he is homeless he could have mental problems and be delusional so who knows if he played for ut or not.

I believe his dad was a former Vandy/NFL player that's still here in Nashville. The son was doing well in the NBA but the usual injury/drugs got him off track. A group of people are trying to help him get it turned around.

No one should give him a job. He should go out and get one. Damn bum.

nice post. have some compassion dude. the guy might want to work, but there are not jobs for 10 percent of us at the moment. who knows his situation except the fact that he is living out of a truck.

Just a thought....and a very naive one at that. I'm not trying to be mean, but it's much harder than it looks.
It's up to the human race to help people, not just churches. How are churches supposed to do all of this when most of the people within the churches are struggling to make ends meets themselves? It would take BILLIONS of dollars yearly to cut out government social services with all the people on it these days.

Also,I've got news for you not everybody will let you help them. I've given money to people over the years to help them out and all they would do is squander it on lotto tickets, cheap booze, and drugs, all the while taking my money and lying to me every time their mouth moved. I've even let 2 people live with me on separate occasions for 2-3 months at a time not charging them a dime and neither time did the people even attempt to help themselves. You would not believe the lies I listened to,and the stuff that was stole from me.

I agree homelessness is a huge problem, and I have compassion for people, but you can't always just throw money at something and fix it.

Sorry if I sounded mean spirited. That's not my intention.

A lot of college football players never think past what happens when their playing career is over. There was an article on SI about a former pro who cant get out of bed and wishes he'd never played. Sad.

Has anyone seen the man in the past few days. There are a lot of suicides during this time of year. Maybe some good soul in Halls area will take him food or see that he gets to a free dinner in the community. The holidays are worse when you have lost someone and have some depression.....

I work for Social Services and as long people buy stuff, assistance will be provided. As matter of fact, my point is that the church is not helping enough. Charities and just good people do more than some of these megachurches making a million a Sunday.
