**EDIT** Joey Aguilar Transfers To Tennessee..

Imo a terrible plan if we plan on him starting. And I can't see him coming without assurances he would be the starting qb.
Then you’ve never competed at anything have you? Zero chance CJH told him he would be the starter. No coach would do that and no athlete worth a shat would want him to. Competing for the starting job is expected by all.

If UCLA thought he was better than Nico they'd have stood pat. Best case scenario is that he's being brought in to push the younger guys and provide an experienced hand, but that one of the youngsters wins the job. Either way, we are gonna take some lumps this year.
Not necessarily. Boosters with money see "5-star" just like some of the armchair coaches on this forum and think he's a future shoo-in to be in Canton.

One guy came from App State and the other guy is a "FIVE STAR, BAYBEE!" from a playoff team. Nico is getting paid, and whoever is paying him is going to want to see a return on the investment. Aguilar wisely figured he had no chance to beat the FIVE STAR out.

He may be a guy who put up big numbers at a G5 team and be exposed in the SEC. Or he might be a guy who nearly dragged a subpar G5 team to bowl eligibility even after its season was wrecked by a 500-year hurricane. Or anywhere in between.

What I do know is that Nico never played like a five-star here, and he never ran the offense as well as it could be run. For all we know, Heupel might be fine to make the trade. He doesn't seem to have wasted any time signing Aguilar when he hit the portal.

Just watched some highlights. Vols need to get another QB through the portal. Just saying. I'll leave it at that no need for me to bash the kid....

In Nico’s 14 starts, he failed to reach 200 yards in 9 of them.
Yes exactly he is a media darling and truth be told everywhere he has been he has been told he is the greatest and can do no wrong. I think in a few months when everything calms down a lot of people will be like how did he get that much hype.

Looking at the options I feel this is prolly the best and the kid was solid.... People forget Hendon didn't exactly light it up at Virginia Tech before... If anything the kid would be highly motivated and create good competition for the others... I want the best man to win out freshman or Senior... Nobody knows more than Coach Huep... I trust him
Me too, also he wants to be here which is apparently better than what we had, so let’s quit whining and support him 😂.. we will have an upgraded Oline.. and there are some unknowns with regards to QB but I feel pretty confident they will have them ready.. and unknowns can also mean being pleasantly surprised 😂

Tossing 3K in any league an accomplishment. Put him with the athletes of Tennessee and tutelage of CJH and it could be 3500-4000 yards. Similar number to what Lock had at Missouri.
I remember when we played against Lock lol.. nightmares and PTSD lol

My prediction is that Aguilar starts, loses the job during the Georgia game, then G-Mac gets an opportunity and shines enough for us to want to roll with him.

I hope you are right, but I have very much in competition. not at that level. But just think, this is his last year, and the only reason he hit the portal was he knew he was going to lose his starting position, so why would he transfer if not going to start? And your statement about what coach would do that, plenty of them have done that.

Not sure I should have like your post, but you're right. Agree 100%! I've yet to see anything that would indicate he's a great QB coach. He sure didn't have an eye for Hooker, until injury took him off the bench and in the game. That's always bothered the hell out of me!
Joe was injured early in the 6th quarter into the season, so he played about five quarters as Hooker also got time in the first game. Some folks here have this meme in their head as if Milton played half the season, sucked it up and Heupel just wouldn't replace him. The guy was coming off two solid performances against Vandy and Clemson.

Five quarters.

I sampled highlights from four games, not just the Clemson game and drawing a half-baked conclusion. Spring portal isn't going to be littered with 4/5* QBs. Guy has good size, plenty of arm, good mobility, and is a competitor and experienced starter. Heupel's offense is built to also minimize INTs.

That's as definitive an appraisal as anyone - not pretending to be a gridiron sage - can make until fall.

It’s great we got Joey, but he has a mountain to climb to be the day one starter. This is Jake’s team until Joey proves otherwise, if for no other reason than knowing the offense better. Coach Heup will lean on that for sure. It may take a few games before we really know what we have.

They also forget how much crying was done on this forum that Hooker was taking snaps away from the GOAT Harrison Bailey. Hell even as far back as 2014, this board was so head over heels in love with Riley Ferguson that Dobbs was considered surplus goods and would never have seen the field if Riley hadn't been hurt.

It's a way of life. No challenge goes unaccepted. Win or go home.
At the very least, it could make for some exciting deep throws. Seems to make quick decisions, which is absolutely critical in the CJH offense. Might have some one side of the field looks in the first game, but more meat in the second game, and hopefully enough plays to not get killed by Georgia.

Wake me up when JG threw 56 touchdowns and 850 pass attempts, some of y'all make zero sense. JG didn't throw 850 pass attempts in four years at Tennessee or 56 touchdown passess combined. They have nothing in common lol
Hate runs deep up in here for a kid who meant it when he slapped that sign on the way out to play...

I guess mercenaries are better though.

that Clemson game tells me:
1. He isn't very accurate.
2. He doesn't read the field. It's "throw to a place". He isn't looking at coverage.
3. He is reckless in his decisions.

Scary. But we don't have to count on him. If we let him start and he turns into a problem, let Merk take the reigns.

Watch his highlights (or lowlights) against Clemson's defense.

Idk man. I could see it if he was a little more patient sometimes but also, hesitation can be a killer. It's hard to tell what kind of player he would be against SEC defenses after watching.

First 4 minutes and 26 seconds I see 4 passes that hit receivers either in the numbers or hands and dropped. Also I see he’s running for his life.

I would slap the T walking out the door as well if offered the starting job but that is irrelevant if you aren't winning. He is probably a great guy
