**EDIT** Joey Aguilar Transfers To Tennessee..

Joey Aguilar 6' 3" has a lot of experience he has the same extra year because of his Diabolo Valley JUCO same as Diego Pavia got extra year because the JUCO rule. Experience means a lot both Gmac & Merk hopefully have a higher ceiling.
Joey makes fast decisions and that's critical in this offense. I believe Huep system is great at lowering ints too. It's not like he gonna have to drop back and go throw multiple reads.

All you need to see. Clemson was a similar team to us last year: pretty good but missing pieces, and ended up getting bounced in the first round of the CFP. If we want to be a championship level team, we cannot trust Aguilar. Highly question the staff for even considering this.

And you are who?

I think he just fell in love with Joes arm. Hell we all did. Hooker just had it more between the ears. Joe is a physical freak.
Every coach at every level is gonna make an athlete like Joe Milton prove he CANT play. It starts at little league with the biggest kid pitching. It goes to the NFL with Dallas trading a 3rd rounder for him.

Cam Ward is about to be the number one pick in the draft and he was a 0 star coming out of high school. Josh Allen is one of the best QBs in the NFL and he was a 0 Star. Star ratings on QBs is a crap shoot compared to other positions. Go look at 5 star rated QBs from the past 15 years and you will be shocked at the amount of busts. It's really hard to predict who will develop between the ears.
So, you're saying we shouldn't be all that excited about Faizon Brandon and his high rating?

The spin in this thread is strong.

No I'm a star gazer just like anyone else but I've watched this game long enough to realize QBs are a different animal. I will always hoot and holler for a 5 Star more than a 3 but I understand those stars mean less than they do at other postions

That's mostly true, BUT will he make a perfect throw to the end zone to beat Bama? There were some instances that don't show up in general stats where Nico came through and led us to victory. Not many, but enough to get us into the CFB playoffs in it's first year of an expanded field. There will be improvements made to the seeding process. We shouldn't have been on the road at the OSU in the first round. I am still with you though. We can do at least as well with another QB. The issues with him aren't worth it

Yes, but it was the exception and not the rule.

People are excited about the 5 star rating next to his name but once he steps onto that college field, none of that matters anymore.
It's just the laughable attempts in this thread to say "ratings don't mean anything" then I'll see all season: "Faizon is so highly rated he'll come in and compete to start as a freshman."

In 14 starts Nico threw for 2767 avg. 197.6 with 21 TD in all honesty if we play like we did last year and he came in and put up about 260 to 270 a game we are probably still a 10-11 win team headed to the playoffs. Once you get past the hype show that surrounded Nico you begin to realize the bar was not set that high.

In Nico’s 14 starts, he failed to reach 200 yards in 9 of them.

The staff apparently isn't confident they'll get a high level of play from Merk or Mac either.

And out-talented at every matchup on the field. Even so, he was 18-41 for 214 yards, 1 TD, 0 Interceptions against a Clemson team that would be similar to good SEC competition.

That would be an upgrade over we got last year from Nico…and Nico had a much better supporting cast.

I’m not saying he’s the answer, but the poster’s Clemson conclusion is misguided.
If UCLA thought he was better than Nico they'd have stood pat. Best case scenario is that he's being brought in to push the younger guys and provide an experienced hand, but that one of the youngsters wins the job. Either way, we are gonna take some lumps this year.

Yeah, I watched this one. Didn't inspire a lot of confidence, but I tried to remember the caliber of OL/WR for App St going against a team like Clemson. Things might be better for him at UT? Nothing else to hang our collective hats on so why not?
