I've been critical of JG in the past and really didn't think he was going to cut it as a starting QB and now believe I was totally wrong. He looked like a completely different player last night and I was really impressed. I think we finally have someone that can develop our players at that position. He didn't have a lot of time to throw last night, yet managed to complete 76% of his passes. I really like what I saw and hope he continues to get better throughout the season!

Well done. Plenty others should be doing the same. The kid is tough as nails and can flat out throw the football. We can win with him.....unfortunately, we can’t win with a lot of the his teammates, which is why he’s gonna take a beating throughout the season. He’s also gonna have a ton of pressure to be near flawless due a defense that’s gonna likely be the worst in the SEC again.

He was number 1 dual threat recruit. I wonder when his running instincts will kick in on busted plays, covered receivers, and scrambles?

I'm convinced between this year and last, he can't actually run.

In regards to the thread, I'm no where near as impressed with JG as others seem to be. Most of our passes seemed to be within 10 yards of the LoS and we were playing a god awful defense and put up all of 14 points. He was OK I guess, but he did absolutely nothing special.

We faced the worst P5 defense we're gonna play all year and this was the best JG and our offense could do.

Agreed - fortunately I can admit it when I'm wrong ;)

How can he be rated dual threat if he cant actually run?

We knew that JG was tough from the beatings he took last season.

Considering he almost lost his head, along with his helmet, in the 1st quarter I was impressed with him.

When he got a little blocking from our O line he stood in there, looked over the field fast, had a quick release and was more accurate than I expected.

If our O line can gel and our WRs and TEs get open a little better than I believe that our passing game can become really good.

Good passing always helps open up the running game more.

Our OC and his staff have only had a short time to put a new Pro style program together but I like what I saw for the 1st game against a much better D than anyone thought we would face.

Barring serious injuries I expect to see our O learn, grow and get much better as this season moves forward.

Next year or the year after I think we'll have a O that's hard to stop and will put lots of points on the board.

That long drive all the way down the field for a 4th down TD pass was a thing of beauty and I think we'll see more of those this season.

VFL...GBO!!!

JG played very well. IF the Offensive coaches had fixed the LOS Problems sooner, the story might have been different. PLUS some ?? calls when it appeared that Tennessee was about to take the lead right before the half. The WV D was gasping; and UT didn't capitalize ; and then the Hour delay allowed them time to recoup. Lot's of things went wrong. JG and Jordan were Amazing under much adversity. I also apologize to Guarantano. He IS the Man.

I 100% agree. The thing that pops most for me is he is not trusted to read a defense and make a change. At best I can say JG is serviceable. Until a UT QB can make calls at the line to put the O in a better play we will be no better on O than last year.

We also have to realize that "the drive" that gives so many hope still came down to a 4th down conversion against a mediocre defense.

And when things clicked yesterday, you saw a running game. Jordan has to get the dancing habit out of his system, but when he did that one cut and go? Very productive. And I liked the short glimpse we got of Banks...that’s some mean waiting to happen. Madre London will deliver too if that injury wasn’t too serious. All that to say that the running game will help JG be more effective and when we actually start looking down the field?

He played okay not elite..He is performance is not going to beat Florida..Rocket for a arm but he settling for to many short throws instead of letting plays develop..He looked alot better than last year..He needs to take more shots instead of being safe..The defense is not ready yet so we going to need to put more points up on the board..Im not taking shots at the kid..Just constructive criticism..
