at 40 mph.

shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed.
Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree
damage is likely.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly
from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the
basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.

The tornado threat has increased for this evening into the overnight hours. Areas along and west of Knox County are in a 10% hatched area for tornadoes.

Update: There is a Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect for all of East TN until 9 PM. I do expect a new watch will be issued when this one expires, as the severe threat will continue overnight.

The winds with these storms look like tornadoes want to pop up with each band coming through. These are intense.

The Severe Thunderstorm Watch for the western half of East TN has been canceled. I do still think that there will be another watch issued later on when the final round gets closer.

The instability will not be as strong as it has been, but the wind shear is still going to be quite strong when the squall line moves through. I do think damaging winds up to 70 mph is the main threat, but a couple isolated tornadoes can't be ruled out. I would definitely have all notifications on your phone and/or weather radio turned on for tonight.
