~Severe Weather Alert~

There is an Enhanced risk for strong to severe thunderstorms for just about all of East TN except the Tri-Cities (which has a slight risk) for tomorrow.

Timing: Late afternoon into the evening. This could still change.

Hazards:
- Damaging winds in excess of 60 mph is likely, with potentially over 70 mph possible in western half of East TN.

- Quarter size hail and isolated half dollar size hail is possible

-A few tornadoes are possible.
 
Update:

No changes in the severe risk overnight or this morning. The timing is still a little bit of a question mark, but it does appear to arrive in the plateau sometime around 4 PM EST, with the central valley and everywhere else between 5 and 6 PM.

* Tornado Warning for...
Northern Morgan County in east Tennessee...
Southwestern Campbell County in east Tennessee...
Central Scott County in east Tennessee...

* Until 600 PM EDT.

* At 507 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado
was located 13 miles northwest of Wartburg, moving northeast at 55
mph.

HAZARD...Tornado and quarter size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed.
Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree
damage is likely.

* This dangerous storm will be near...
Huntsville and Helenwood around 525 PM EDT.

Other locations impacted by this tornadic thunderstorm include Rugby,
High Point, Rugby State Park, Smokey Junction, Deerlodge, Honey Creek
State Park, Norma, Elgin, Robbins, and Slick Rock.

Update on Tornado Warning!!!!!!!!!!!

...A TORNADO WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 600 PM EDT FOR NORTHERN
MORGAN...SOUTHWESTERN CAMPBELL AND CENTRAL SCOTT COUNTIES...

At 532 PM EDT, a confirmed large and extremely dangerous tornado was
located 8 miles southwest of Huntsville, or 13 miles north of
Wartburg, moving northeast at 30 mph.


This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. TAKE COVER NOW!

HAZARD...Damaging tornado.

SOURCE...Radar confirmed tornado.

IMPACT...You are in a life-threatening situation. Flying debris may
be deadly to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes
will be destroyed. Considerable damage to homes,
businesses, and vehicles is likely and complete destruction
is possible.

The tornado will be near...
Huntsville around 545 PM EDT.

Other locations impacted by this tornadic thunderstorm include Norma,
Elgin, Robbins, Smokey Junction, and Slick Rock.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

To repeat, a large, extremely dangerous and potentially deadly
tornado is on the ground. To protect your life, TAKE COVER NOW! Move
to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy
building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in
a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect
yourself from flying debris.
 
Another update has been issued for the tornado warning.

SCOTT COUNTY...

At 539 PM EDT, a confirmed large and extremely dangerous tornado was
located near Huntsville, or 11 miles south of Oneida, moving
northeast at 40 mph.

This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. TAKE COVER NOW!

HAZARD...Damaging tornado.

SOURCE...Public confirmed tornado.

IMPACT...You are in a life-threatening situation. Flying debris may
be deadly to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes
will be destroyed. Considerable damage to homes,
businesses, and vehicles is likely and complete destruction
is possible.

The tornado will be near...
Huntsville around 545 PM EDT.

Other locations impacted by this tornadic thunderstorm include Norma,
Robbins, Smokey Junction, Slick Rock, and Elgin.
 
If you live in Campbell County especially North of La Follette, you need to take shelter immediately! There is a tornado on the ground with this storm.

Update:

Northeast TN has been removed from the Tornado Watch. Still a small chance for a strong to severe storm in the valley, but the severe threat is winding down.
