Autzen is probably one of the 5 loudest stadiums in the entire country, that being said, they've played in front of big crowds before. In 2007, they obliterated Michigan in the big house.
Michigan isn't that loud.

Wow, i wouldnt worry about your O superdawg. It would be the D and special teams, thats the only way yall scored on us. with that being said to be honest with ya, we have no idea how good we are going to be, new coach and new system,we dont have a lot of depth where we need it, but, its the SEC and anything goes. cant account for anything with bad blood and playing rivals every week in and week out. its going to be a good one, CMR is going to try and run us in the ground after the pounding ya'll received last year. and cant speak for dooley. its going to be fun.

This! and Thanks!

AFL:
I dont know how you can say that 54000 sounds anything like 100,000 ppl. Thats almost dbl fella! Seriously? We are always crazy loud, especially when we are the underdogs. These boys are gonna get their minds blown when they come down to Ktown and get blinded by the orange out. You better tell them to bring their ear plugs. At least they could have partial hearing after the game's over. The pain from JJ and RW will nvr go awy though....

If Blunt tries to punch RW like he did that boise plyr, not only will all of the bones in his hand, arm and shoulder instantly decenigrate but the force of Rod Wilks clinching his teeth for the blow will knock out blunt and impregnate his girlfriend with their firstborn....

Good luck ducks cause youre gonna get F...ed!

Go Vols!

Guys, Autzen, because of the way it was constructed, is one of the loudest stadiums in the COUNTRY.

Autzen Stadium has been house of horrors for two decades - ESPN

No one set out to build a stadium that promotes claustrophobia. The acoustics that make the current Autzen so intimidating to opponents are a result of dumb luck and parsimony. And not in that order.

"The fans are right on top of you," Brooks said. "They were trying to save money and there's not all that much space down there."

The fans are so close to the teams on the sideline that they can hear the players and coaches talk. There's even less room from the back of the end zone to the seats. The field is sunken, so the noise rains down.

"It's a potato-chip design -- high on the sides and it slopes down," Moos said. "There's no track or anything. The seats come right down to the field and they come down pretty steep."

well we do have to replace a key part of that offense....the QB. And with one that has no starting experience at the college level. It's really the defense where all the questions will be. New Def Coor. and new 3-4 scheme. Not even sure we have the right players to succeed in the 3-4 but we gonna try. I think Grantham was a good hire but as with you vols/Dooley we're going to have to take a "wait and see" approach. Our loss to you last year wasn't as bad as the "way" we lost. We got schooled and most of that blame was placed on Richt and staff. I am hopeful Grantham can defended the play action pass.

hmmmmm, it seems that you guys are in quite a pickle then. Good luck with the true freshman......or Nick "Joe Cox" Stephens!
I refuse to take smack from someone we beat down and that LOST TO KENTUCKY AT HOME! Face it, you've got just as many question marks as we do, plus a lame-duck coach. I hope Richt hangs on because he's not scaring anybody. Enjoy underperforming while the AJC and Schlabach hype you up and enjoy doing what dogs do....sniffing rear ends. GO VOLS!

Personally, I think Oregon is going to have a not so hard time here this year.

But I'd love to be wrong about that.

Yeah Oregon is not known for their fast starts.

So WHEN we win all our players need to keep their helmets on during the post game. Before the annual sucker punch fest.

I was just about to post something like this. It's kind of the same reason that Lane Stadium(VA Tech) is so darn loud.

Autzen stadium couldn't seat 100,000, because if they did, people would be bleeding from their ears.

That being said, Oregon could be intimidated, but if you've played in front of USC, playing at UT's house can't be that scary.

Superdawg.......seriously I'm the biggest UT homer ever....and we sucked last year....and still with us sucking we whipped yalls ASS!!!! seriously....I noticed we heard no more AJ Green talk after my last post....Yall have good players and we do too but....Do NOT talk smack about a team that dominated yall last year AND DIDN'T lose to Kentucky.....DIDNT lose to Kentucky...I'm pretty sure UK has beaten yall more times in 5 years than they have beaten UT in 30???? I may be wrong but numbers speak for themselves

If you're talking about Oregon, you'd be dead wrong.

Yeah. As far as pure loudness, Autzen stadium might be just as loud as the Swamp. Maybe louder. I don't know about Tiger stadium at night loud, but it's fricken LOUD.

Now is it as "intense" as Bryant Denny or Neyland at night? That's up for debate.

But its one of the loudest stadiums in the country, and for its size, its the loudest stadium in the world.

Neyland would blow Autzen out of the water! Regardless of shape of the stadium, Neyland's not all spread out or anything, the seats are pretty steap. Plus, You just can't compare 54000 to 100,000 ppl. There is no way in hell that 54,000 ppl can be louder or more intimidating than 100,000 drunk rednecks in orange. the ducks will be lucky to make it out of there alive.

Neyland isn't really that loud for a stadium that draws 6 figure crowds.

It can be. just depends on the game. You must not go to the expensive ones.... Fla vs TN 2004 when we had 106,000 I think, final score 30-28 Tennessee was so loud that my ears were ringing the rest of the night.

How can you say it's not that loud?

Man, this isn't even up for debate. Neyland might be one of the most intimidating places to play at, but Autzen is infamous since the renovations for how loud it gets.

It's not because of how many people, but because of the way the building was constructed. All the sound is trapped on the field, similar to the Swamp. But more so.

In case I was dreaming, please remind me. Didn't Mr. Wilcox shut them water fowl ducks down with Boise's defense? In which caused an anger overload by their running back, causing him to punch a guy and be suspended.Where have you been Marky Poo. You are an idiot and don't deserve to publish a top 25 poll. Oh yeah Marky Doo, as we hillbillies say it around here, "Neyland ain't no damn Boise!"

All Big Orange fans need to purchase duck calls( for those who don't already have them) and blow them in drunkin harrassment at the ducks. Now tell me which one will be louder.100,000 PLUS,QUACK, QUACK,QUACK!

I'm willing to bet at least some of the hype around Autzen is the fact that just about every other team they face in their conference plays their home game in glorified high school stadiums. I don't care what Lloyd Carr said, either. I'm sure a lot of that was shock and coachspeak.

Autzen may be very loud, but I doubt teams that play at LSU, UT, Florida, Bama, Auburn, and Georgia consistently will really be overwhelmed.
