Early Returns Indicate Cade Mays

Bamas defense this year is not that good, every one is scoring on them, but they are amazing on offense. With jg in the game ark, will be hard for us to beat this year.
Again, besides Ole Miss, they've given 24 a piece to UGA and A&M, 19 to Missouri and 17 to UT. I join your concern about Arkansas, I have watched several of their games. They were robbed against Auburn or they'd have only the 1 loss to UGA. Pittman has those boys playing their butts off.

He got beat inside on that one freaking play, BIG DEAL! There are truly some small minded people in here.

I also watched Cade knock him back about 8' on the JG scramble play. I think it was more a back and fourth thing. It's not like he abused Cade all game.

Truthfully, if we hadn't have gotten routed by Kentucky the week before, yesterday wouldn't have bothered me that bad, JG played one of his better games yesterday and Eric Gray ran hard minus the fumble. Hyatt also seems to be a true deep threat, but on the whole Bama just outclassed us with their offense and we never had any real hope of winning the game. I am perhaps being unduly harsh on Cade, I know it does take time for OL's to jel sometimes, but I saw this video and it reminded me of what seems to be a constant theme with many of our teams during this horrible stretch, all of the talent potential in the world means nothing if it doesn't translate to play on the field. I really hope we can buckle down, we've got 5 games left and none of them are unwinnable but none of them are gimmies either except maybe Vandy.
I agree with everything you said except Vandy being a gimme. IMO those teams no longer exist in college football. There’s talent on every team now and on a given day can come together enough to beat anyone!

in case you did not know or hv no clue about football when it pertains to Xs and Os this isn’t unusual.it’s a case of real football.scheme on scheme and Mays lost this rep. Normal football things. The OL did a very good job yesterday.all OL get beat even all pro guys that play on Sundays. Get a grip @unfrozencvmanvol

I'm no OL blocking guru. But, if I'm an OL and have the advantage of knowing where the play is going pre snap, then why try and make up 2 feet to the left attempting an engagement block. I know they want to stand up the DL and create a crease. But, would a cut block not be more effective when the defender has a positional advantage like that? Maybe one of y'all understands the technical reasons here.

Vandy may be licking thier chops at this point.

Eric Gray starts on every team minus Alabama, and is at worst 1A at Georgia, and TAMU.

We have PUH-LENTY of flaws on this team. Hell, our backfield has plenty. I don't know what has happened to Ty Chandler, hes regressed each of the last 2 years. Even though I'm defending him, Gray has left yards on the field - and is yet to produce an explosive run. But he's BY FAR our offensive MVP and a really nice back that we shouldnt minimalize due to our overall slaw of an offense.
Gray is shifty with some speed and a little bit above average on the P5 level. He does well when their are wide seams to run in. 50/50 when he doesn’t have a seam and is terrible when it comes to breaking tackles. Usually minor contact on his lower leg or foot trips him up easily. Happens every game. Both Georgia and Alabama have multiple running backs better than Gray when looking at their complete skills.

It hasn't been an isolated incident, as reflected by those grades from the Georgia game in the Rocky Top Talk article, besides I didn't say the guy sucked and we needed to cut him, I said he has, so far, not played for us like the player we had I think reasonably hoped he would be.

Funny how a few weeks can change everything..Beating Missouri it was”Best oline team play we’ve seen in years”..2nd half of Georiga wtf are they doing, friend sucks,Mays sucks..Lmao idk who is what etc I just know we got 5-6 qbs and it’s a effin shame none of them can come in and win!Georgia starts season 5-7 at halftime switches Qb and turned into the new LSU.Hes not great but can read a defense and knows when 350lbs is coming down on him.Jg awareness would be a -9 if we playing madden lol just sayin...Anyone says a good qb can’t make a whole team better is full of sh*t and just needs to look around the football world.

It's far more than one play. He got owned repeatedly in the Georgia game as well. Gave up 2 sacks, 1 hit, 3 hurries, 6 total pressures and 2 penalties. 52.7 pass blocking grade, 37.9 run blocking grade.

Facing their biggest test, the Tennessee offensive line was a massive letdown against Georgia
If you thought Case Mays was so good he was going to overwhelmingly take down the best defense GA has probably ever had, perhaps YOU are the reason he is "overrated".

Yes, I am secretly responsible for making him a preseason all conference selection and for influencing draft gurus to put him down as a day 1 selection in 2021. Solid theory there. He hasn't played up to those accolades for us so far.

That looks like a pretty nice lane for a back to gain some yardage, imo.
Maybe the line was slow to develop the hole, maybe the QB and RB were off on their assignments or positioning? Still, that should have been a 5-6 yard gain!
GBO!!

Cade Mays is projected as a Guard.

He has been tried at Tackle but doesnt have the necessary footwork/speed for the position.

He is above average and a great addition to the team.
