The NIL is in its wild wild west phase.

For example: if someone entered the portal this past Friday, they have 48 hours for the school to process.. although the portal is about to close, and there's a holiday, it will be Wednesday before anything is resolved.

Coaches are holding on tight this whole time just waiting.

There's no consequences for someone committing and decommitting.

There are several good solutions but nobody is taking charge and pushing for it.

They all just want to sit back and let it run as is for a bit longer.

The Vols have chased, but they also have to use a budget.

It seems to be taking a while for Josh to adjust to the portal. I don’t know if we have the money either. Guess he will learn the hard way

I’d say no. Tennessee took a swing but Kiffin was desperate to make a big splash. That’s what he does.

I think that #3 ranking is a combination of our 2026 signing class and what we got in the portal. Its not based just on portal.

The only thing I see as off is the paying public overpaying to watch semi-pro athletics. It is not about college athletics any longer, nor alligence to a school, university, or locale. The sooner the schools realize this, the better.

And even w/ all of this, we still don't really don't know what we've got. I tend to look at "have we addressed our immediate needs" in the portal, and then obviously a very good year w/ HS talent. I think we did pretty well, with the big unknown being QB...how ready is GMac or any of our QBs. This year will come down to "how well did we re-tool our D", and what sort of QB play will we get. If we hit on both of these, we could very well be in the playoffs...if we miss on either/both, we'll have a tough season. But, I guess, in this era, many teams are in this bucket.

I have been on a fair amount of these sports/music/auto message boards over the years. There are people on these sites who pretend to be fans of the entity, but are actually fans of other teams. Some people will even have usernames that sound like they are fans. They will come up with anything negative and cynical they can think of to bash the team/band/truck. Must have an awful lot of time in their hands.
