Dysfunctional Program....

Dysfunctional
adjective
1.
not operating normally or properly.
2.
unable to deal adequately with normal social relations or political processes.

So no, Tennessee is not dysfunctional. There is no "normal" or "properly" at this point with NIL.
One could argue we are not dealing adequately with NIL, but that same argument applies to probably 120 programs that also are probably not playing for a national championship next year.

So, what I read in that is.....we're gonna lose every game! Do I have that correct?

Are we are dysfunctional program with our approach in the NIL era? When it first started seemed we was ahead of the game... But something seems off lately

Tennessee is still "on probation" for the Pruitt mess. Danny White has said (and it's not unreasonable to think this way) we're going to abide by the rules.

I have always thought someones idea of portal success or failure is something that really depends on how you view situations in the program. for instance, if you thought the defense needed a makeover, you probably think Tennessee has been successful in the portal. But, and i think this is the root of all this, if you have faith that macintyre is the answer at QB, you think the portal is going fine, but if you are not sold on the ability of mcintyre to lead this team to the playoffs, you do think the portal has been questionable at best. personally, i think if macintyre is the starter, it sets your program back a couple years, because you probably lose faizon brandon, and i see macintyre as a QB who will spend more time injured than playing. but if you are sold on macintyre, you probably think things are looking great. we will see how it works out

It seems to be taking a while for Josh to adjust to the portal. I don’t know if we have the money either. Guess he will learn the hard way
Josh has done well in the portal. We have the money.

I recommend researching the subject and read the articles and excerpts from Danny White’s interviews. TN is NOT tampering, meaning we are following the rules. I won’t say 100%, but I most cases TN did not hold conversations until the player hit the portal. Should we tamper l? Not my call. But, o respect White being cautious since we are on probation, still.

Plus, we filled our needs. QB- we made one offer- that’s it. Most of the QBs were following their coach to his new team.

Let’s allow Heup to do his job!

For some reason, we're playing by rules nobody else is playing by. We have money we could spend, but White won't do it because of "rules" and we're on "probation". A probation which Pruitt doesn't suffer from because he went to court and the judge threw it out. Why did the judge throw it out? Because the whole thing he was on probation for, is LEGAL now....

For the most part, White has done a good job, but when it comes to NIL and the NCAA he needs to pull his head out of his ass. He's hamstringing CJH and the team with this attitude... Three of the teams we play next year will have "payrolls" $20M or more above the NIL limit and are basically telling everyone to eff off.

Please be serious. You expect that Danny White is going to come out and say "they're tampering so we are too" or something like that?

Of course he's going to paint us as "doing it the right way" because what else could he say when he's accusing others of tampering?

Good Lord...

We had a dysfunctional defense, a head case for a FG kicker, and a non-existent S&C program. Those add up to an 8-5 record.

Two of those three have been addressed. I expect a nice upgrade at S&C before the spring.

Heupel is a top-notch OC. He seems to be learning how to be an SEC head coach by trial and error. I'm willing to give him another year, maybe two, to prove he's the right guy for UT.

The 2026 schedule is tough. Another 8-4 run here would actually be improvement. Anything north of that is a good sign.

If nothing else, Heupel will leave a much better roster than he inherited.

Dysfunctional? No. But entering Year 6 we are clearly at the "Show Me What You Can Do" point. I hope Josh has what it takes, and is about to paint his masterpiece.

Go Vols.

Seems like we just addressed the biggest issue on our team from the 2025 season with a big haul of defensive players who know/fit the new DC’s system. QB is still a question, but I am ready to see GMac (or FB).

2026 is going to be interesting.

I like Hype and hope he continues to improve our team. I think he is a good field coach, all except clock management, but in his past history; afer the recruits he inherited left, he went down. Most all of our really good playerss the past few years were not his recruits. Now they are all his, so lets see how it turns out. I hope very good.

If Josh has done well and we have the money Then we should be great next year! And I am not stopping Heup from doing squat. It’s all on him

Its nothing wrong with our program. Have you seen the players we've added to our team high school & portal. Why do you believe our program is dysfunctional?
