Dumb stuff I want.

Looks like Sauron won.
I made the joke in another forum that it looks like what I imagine happened after the Elves left for the Grey Havens.
Maybe buy a completely new set, add a few buildings/ bridges, and have plenty of replacement parts?
Well, um, I’m not in the tax bracket to be spending like that

New 2024 RetroBoy’s PREMIUM Mini PC Console with 38,000 games & 105 consoles

Previously had gotten a custom dual stick arcade set up from them (see below) That you can hook to any HDMI tv connection. I have enjoyed it but it's bulky and some times does have a little slowdown on higher end emulators (dreamcast etc.)

So my absolutely not needed time waster for bedroom TV. Emulates near perfectly everything from Atari 2600 up to PSP, PS2, PS3, Sega Saturn, GameCube Wiii, WiiU, Some Nintendo Switch, and Dreamcast! Large library of all of those built in. Wireless controllers. The dumbest of the dumb things I do not need, and I could have purchased that Mac-5 for this pice..but dammit I need it. MY 2024 x-mas gift ordered.

There are much cheaper Video Game jukeboxes out there now, esp from china. Amzon has a host of the sticks. look up (4k hdmi retro video gaming stick) and you'll find 10+ clones for under 50 bucks that will play most of the classics. However most of the Rom's are just dumped, and not optimized and higher end stuff will have trouble....This guy hand curates the collection, includes graphics presets in the menu so you even have video of gameplay in menu. Configures them to work best with controllers, and hardware, and it will run stuff that frankly it probably shouldn't be able to as it's not that old. I can also atest he treats you right when you have issues, my dual sticks got damaged in shipping, and he sent me completely newly done top and replacment sticks well beyond what was needed for repair. (the chinese sticks are great if you just want to get your feet wet, and mainly want 8-bit to 32-bit era arcade, and ya can't beat fiddy bucks and under)

Your 12 yr old self will freak out that this is even possible. Probably will make you much less efficient with your time though.

My custom rig he did for me to go with wood paneling, shag carpet and Naugahyde. He normally does more flashy stuff, I just thought this was awesome. It's MUCH larger then it looks. Room for two grown men side by side to use. Not as powerful as the new machine above though or even close. But it does well through Pong to PS2 era....

So Dumb stuff I have bought just to see how it compared given the low price point.

Holy crap it works, and I mean it really works....and that HD has everything on it... EVERYTHING at least up through PS2. I dunno how they are selling it on Amazon, it's worth it for the 4TB HDD curated collection alone. (all titles appear to be working, no real dubs, pictures, video of gameplay etc on everything, runs clean)

Only a matter of time before Nintendo Snitch lawyers take it down.

This is much cheaper then the other unit I bought (less powerful though) still for what you get at that price it's instant Retro Gaming Nirvana for next to nothing. Also thought the controller would be dippy like most of these, but it's a gamesir and undoubtly better, and more accurate then any PS controller or 360. Still prefer the new xbox x controllers though.

sgt, you may know of one. I want a good emulator just for nintendo stuff. Pokemon, some of the old Zelda, Prime, Mario things like that. I have found several online, but reviews, and prices, have been all over the place, and I not sure what to trust. any suggestions?

Just have to say after spending more time with this. It continues to impress and frankly it beats the $500+ unit I got. It's worth the price for the Drive full of games alone. I dunno how they are able to sell this on Amazon. But if you like nostalgia video games this is the bee's knees, and the controller it comes with is actually really good (xbox quality). Now I have remorse for the professional one I bought for twice as much. I think I have spent more time playing the 2600 stuff with my son more then anything. We've had fun just doing old school Combat PingPong tanks. Which is sort of hilarious given what it can do (ps3 games no issue) , but that's the memories I enjoy. So far I have yet to think of an Atari 2600/5200/7800/400-800 and not find it on there. I would have paid the same amount for HD alone, if i knew it was this well done and curated. The collection is insane, and worth backing up as a library. I just can't imagine this will stay on there for long. Video game nerd nirvana. I think it can be upgraded a bit, in that the Dolphin emulator that comes on it has newer better versions out now, since this was done, and should make gameplay smoother for more modern Nintendo titles.

Got mine here with a 256gb card with 50 years of some of the best Arcade and console games on it.

But you can buy it all sorts of places and cheaper, including Amazon. I just wanted it set up with games to start.

It's like having 4 decades of Arcades in your pocket. You can still add other games if you like. Most won't need to but I am a oldschool 8 bit computer nerd, so I added some Atari 400-800 RPG games etc. ANY Arcade game from 1980-2010 you can think of... ANY of the old school NES,SNES, PS, Nin 64, etc etc games you can think of. Fits in my windbreaker pocket......doctor visit waiting room wait, waiting to pick up kid from school....pretty much anytime I have to wait a bit, I have every arcade I ever loved in my pocket and tecmo bowl to boot. Only have one currently, but if I get a second one my son and I can play multiplayer with each other..like mario kart etc. Also quiet enough I can play in bed with headphones and buttons remain quiet so as not to aggro sleeping wifey. Nerdtopia.

Lately I been Playing some Sega Master System Ultima IV.....reliving the 80s. Pretty cool for about 80 bucks. on full charge will last 6-7 hours for me usually.
