Still needs mopping@VolNExile how is your new door project coming along?
Ruh-roh…
I don’t know the details. We had to remove two original windows, which were higher up, so maybe that’s the real header you see up above?
I'm looking at it from an angle on the inside, and also from the outside, where things are more exposed. It looks to my uneducated eye that the real header (which was over the windows) does sit on something pretty massive. The windows (together) were wider than the door. I think we're looking at a filler more than anything, with the original header carrying the load over original framing. *waves hands in air* I will ask in the morning. Thanks for bringing it up.
Yes, that was it. We looked at the outside in daylight (in the 36° daylight), and you can see the original framing of the window header over the 2x whatsit’s supports. (As old as this house is, I don’t know what the lumber dimensions were back then.)You’re one of my best imaginary friends. I gotta watch out for ya.
If that’s the case then we’re all good. If the windows were wider and then they just filled space with the 1xs then I’m happy with the structure of the original header.
I gots a door! See above.@VolNExile how is your new door project coming along?
Cat's like put the ****ing camera down and open the door.Yes, that was it. At any rate, the pros are done, and it is now down to the clueless homeowners to start painting. Next week. Maybe.
I finally have my door from the bedroom to the deck. Please don’t look closely.
lol. Sort of.

Thanks! It was a nice solution to filling in the gap below the real header (where the windows used to be) and the top of the doors. A lot easier than a fan light, anyway. I’m looking for some metal enamelware. Or enamel metalware. Not sure which it is.That header is begging to have some sort scroll work attached to it. That looks dam nice!
Thanks for having my back!@VolNExile Looks good. I’m really glad you finally got your door

I wear work boots, running shoes or flip flops.@Behr those the same slides you talked about having?
glad you liked the running shoes (ahem @82_VOL_83). And we’ve been through the shoe game long enough that you didn’t have to remind meI wear work boots, running shoes or flip flops.
I have their running shoes and love them. Considering the slides or flip flops.
