Ed Orgeron noted as one of the best defensive line coaches in the country picked up another defensive lineman commitment when Patrick Harris of Chabot Junior College made his decision.
Yes I made a verbal pledge to Tennessee, Harris told InsideTennessee.com recently. Im very excited about playing for the Volunteers. They have assembled a great coaching staff and they have the program headed in the right direction.
Harris, a 6-foot-5, 300-pound defensive tackle, is expected to contribute early for the Vols.
They are telling me that they need me to come in right away to help out on the defensive front, Harris said. I really like Coach Orgeron a lot; he is one of the best in the business.
Harris played defensive tackle for Chabot in 2008 and he said the quickness he has for a man his size and his motor are what set him apart.
"I'm strong and I'm quick," Harris said. "The coaches said they like my motor and how I'm always going and I never quit."
Harris hasn't maxed out on any of his lifts recently, but he did manage to post a hand-timed 4.9 40 time at 295 recently.
