None of those are realistic. IMO My list in no particular order would be

Tad Boyle
Frank Lawrence
Chris Mack
Donnie Tyndall

The google search candidate could be Pat Skerry. IMO If not us somebody will scoop this guy up.

Chris Mack isn't leaving X, IMO. Especially for a job like UT

I'm an avid CBP hater due to my past experiences dealing with him, but I honestly think he may be the best option at this point. <I can't believe I just wrote that> He has a lot to prove and I think he'd do what it took to do that i.e. Petrino at Louisville.

Scott Drew has a reputation as one of the dirtiest coaches in the country. If we are going to hire him, and subsequently sacrifice any integrity we could possibly have, I'd rather just rehire Pearl and take the beating in the national media for it. We at least know he "works" here. If you know my post history, I'm not a proponent of rehiring Pearl. That should illustrate what a bad idea hiring Drew would be. We aren't that desperate.

My number 1 has always been Buzz and number 2 is Howland. Buzz would bring the energy Bruce did. Having Bizz and Butch her would have our fanbase so pumped up we'd all be running through walls.

Ill take Tommy Amaker from Harvard. I believe he was getting better at Michigan when they blew him out and at Harvard he has been great. Being realistic I see if a change occurs, that it will be more along the lines of the Pearl hiring. meaning whichever small school makes a run knocking off a big school or 2 along the way will get the call to be our coach.

I don't know who we need to get as coach. But if Martin can't get it done this year with Maymon, Stokes, Jordy Mac, how will he get it done next year when these players are gone.

I see several comments alluding to the lack of cleanliness and immediate probation with the hiring of Drew. I will freely admit that I had the exact same thought until i researched it a little more. The Parrish article I put in the original post was enlightening. Not to mention, how many of the active coaches with national titles are called "dirty" on a regular basis? People that win are always accused of being dirty. Now I would take Pearl back in a second. I am just spitballing here. My list in order.

Pearl - I my dreams
Howland - Truly a great option IMO
Buzz Williams - Same as Howland
Scott Drew - Nice fallback - plus 1 poster mentioned why would he leave Baylor? - Why did Franklin leave Vandy?
Jamie Dixon - Probably wont leave
Random No name coach I have to google when its announced - MOST Likely

If you want Scott Drew to lead your basketball program, you should feel ashamed.

Super timing for this thread. Just lost to an Texas Tech team (not coached by Bobby Knight) that was 0-3 in conference.

Drew would be interesting. However, if we are going to back up the Brinks truck, then my first stop is in Virginia at Shaka Smart's house.

Lol. You won't stop with him, will you?

You have seen all of the comments about Drew. Warranted or not, he has some baggage. Shaka Smart isn't coming.

Let's see how we finish.

I have started to lose my mind a little bit watching UT basketball over the past 2.5 seasons. I can't figure out which end is up.

I will say that I wrote the post for a couple of reasons, the first being to point out that are very few coaches that are actually "available" to UT that would be either considered "sure things" or "on-the-verge". Forde's list and my own personal list for that article would be different, but it does make you think a little.

The second reason I wrote it is b/c everytime we have a coaching search people talk about "dropping a dumptruck full of money at XYZ coach's house". The truth of that is even a dumptruck full of money will not make the majority of proven coaches come to UT.

Once you remove those coaches from the scenario the list becomes much smaller and still would require UT to spend 2 mil plus for a coach. Really there are 2 lists. The Major school coach who has proven something (at least 1 of recruiting prowess, winning with minimal talent, great motivator, Xs and Os, etc) but has not gotten over the hump (elite 8s and Final Fours) or the Mid-Major bargain basement cross-your-fingers and hope they are ready coaches.

List 1
Buzz Williams (not on Forde's but should be)
Jamie Dixon
Scott Drew
Ben Howland
Tony Bennett

List 2
The next mid-major coach to make a run in the NCAA this year.

I would take any of the other names on list 1 over Drew, but I would take Drew over any options from list 2. Of course I would also take Pearl back. I really like winning.
