I'm at the final battle right now. I got highly addicted to this game, but now I just don't even want to play it anymore. It really dragged on and I can't even beat the final boss. There's not enough depth, either. I loved Fallout 3. This just doesn't even come close to touching it.

Yeah I just finished the game last night and wanted to throw my controller through my tv during the final battle. It wasn't til 2/3 into the fight that I realized I could call my allies for backup, in case you too were unaware of that since they helped a lot. I upgraded the crap out of my weapons beforehand and loaded up on health and lyrium potions.

I think this thread saved me 60 bucks.

This game is definitely worth playing IMO. I've had a lot of fun with it and plan on restarting with a different type of character. There's a lot of choices to make and I think they make more of an impact than the ones in Mass Effect.

I bought this for $35 on black friday, but after playing it, I'd spend $60 on it if I was looking for a deep game and I had time for it. It may not be for everyone but it'd be worth getting when it drops down in price in the next year.

playing this now. It's certainly no Elder Scrolls, but it's descent.

It is irritating that most of the gameplay and quests have a linear feel to them.... no free roaming in the wilderness like Oblivion, boundaries are everywhere that steer you to your goal.

Races, Classes, and Specialties are limited, especially for a game of this scope. Wish I had a first person view option.

i honestly don't know what to think about this game. i started playing it a couple days ago and it's brilliant in some areas and absolutely terrible in others. the combat is just not doing it for me. when you have a system that lets you control all 4 of your party members' actions its better to have the combat like that of the kotor series where it let you put each and every characters' attacks in a certain sequence. what they implemented in this game isn't near as effective IMO. plus when you get knocked down it takes about 3 or 4 seconds for your guy to completely get back up....while, in the process your guy is getting hit like crazy and at the same time unable to heal.

i may try to finish it but i don't know. i think the storyline is good and the character development is there like in most any bioware game, but i'm not sure i want to trudge along in it anymore when the combat feels so broken....especially when i'm only about 10 hours in. i'm usually a sucker for anything bioware does, but i think this one could have been worked on a litle more.

yeah - it was definitely rushed... I've really warmed up to it now and I'm enjoying it though. It's pretty challenging, even on normal mode.

same. i finally warmed up to it and have been enjoying it for the last week or so. i still think the combat is somewhat lacking though.

eh....honestly if it were me i would wait for a price drop to around 30 or 40. i'm not saying it's not a good game because it is. but there are still certain things in it that keep me from forking over 60 bucks for it.

if you wanted, i would recommend renting it first to see what you think. that's what i did anyway. i had to re-rent it though because it's so long. i'm at the very last part of the game right now and i think it's timed at around 40-41 hours so far.

I liked it a lot and played it multiple times mainly because the story/characters were so good. The combat is harder than most games and not the the greatest, although some of the fight moves you unlock can make it pretty fun later on.

IPorange, I don't know too much about your gaming preferences but I agree with duckman about waiting for a price drop. Unless you play all day, a rental isn't enough time to beat the game. For $35 or less, which I paid, this game is definitely worth getting.

the final boss in this is a little on the ridiculous side. i finally got to the archdemon last night, but still haven't managed to beat it yet. i do ok until i get it's health a little more than halfway down and it sends all the darkspawn after me. i think i might have used up some of my troops earlier than i wanted.

Yeah I didn't realize I could use my allies until I'd gotten it down to around 40% health. Archers worked really well at that part if you still have them.

finally was able to finish this off earlier tonight. i held my whole team back near the upper portion of the tower behind the door you first come out of to keep them from doing anything stupid for half the fight......then i rendezvou'd back with them after i got the archdemon down to below half it's health. for some reason the darkspawn didn't seem to come up there much and were preoccupied with the troops i called in so i was pretty much able to focus the rest of the battle solely on the boss.

This game is ridiculously easy, even on nightmare. If your struggling, learn how to use the tactics menu. There are also mods (PC only) that add to the tactic choices, which is a must have IMO.

I like it. One of the better RPGs of the last decade. It has it's ups and downs, but what game doesn't? It's worlds better on PC than the consoles. I can see why some would struggle if playing on a console.

This is more of a true RPG, so if your a RPGer, you'll like it.

"true rpg"? give me a break. dime a dozen story and setting combined with repetitive gameplay = generic crap with a bioware touch.

that probably had alot to do with it. from what i've seen of the PC version, it handles and looks alot better than the one for the 360 and PS3.

i also thought that the graphics for the 360 version were pretty weak. i'm not saying that a game has to look pretty to be good, but it still seemed to be below today's standards. other than the cutscenes, most of the game's graphics looked on par with that of the ps2 and original xbox.

Yes, "true rpg". Do you even know what that is? A lot of games get labeled as RPGs but really they are just hack n slash or action adventure where you gain levels and pretty much end up with the same character every time. This is more of an RPG of old. Where you level up, have endless combination of equipment you can tailor to your characters style of fighting, pick and choose your party members, dialog choices that may get you different items and sometimes different stories, lots of hidden things, and your character never ends up the same.

RPGs are repetitive, and it's obvious your not a fantasy fan. The story is well written at least. Which is pretty impressive since it contains about 9 novels of text. It also has a few twists and turns that catch you off guard. Sure it's similar to Lord of the Rings, but what story isn't that has dwarfs, elves, and wizards?

Even with the use of tactics, this game is still quite difficult. Every fight could be your last if you are not ready. I had a few times when I whipped the bosses arse and a few minutes later got pwnd by a freakin' pack of wolves.

Character interaction is one of the strong parts of this game. I've had a few interesting encounters at the camp with Morrigan.

Maybe it's just me. I just find it extremely easy. Wolves are easy to hit with spells. Put the pack to sleep, then have your way with them. :p

A few tips.

1. You can stack the haste ability.

2.Mana clash with high spellpower will take out any magic user in 1 hit. The equation for damage is (50+SP)% of mana lost. Ex. If they have 200 mana you have 100 SP and you hit them with that. It does 500 spirit damage.

3. Arcane warriors make the best healers as you can equip items that give bonus to stamina regeneration/bonus that in return reflect on willpower instead. Plus the extra armor helps keep them alive if your party falls. Just long enough to use revive for your damage dealer.

4. Spirit damage is brutal to almost everything, and there are more spirit damage spells than any other element. Especially if your a blood mage. Blood mage is really overpowered IMO. I can solo the whole game using a blood mage.
