His brand is already damaged. He had announcers cracking jokes on him on CBS.Well, UT could say something like "we want you gone but we're not going to fire you. We can't. So you get to stay on national television making a fool of yourself until you quit or make an error so egregious that we get to fire you for cause. Either way you've damaged your brand irreparably. Or, you can walk away for 2 million dollars today and we will all be happier"
If you had a wife and 3 kids that you were responsible for providing for would you do that? You’re scenario involves giving up 10 million dollars. As a father, I would respect the man even less if he did that.
If fans direct anything to his family, it's crossing a line and totally unacceptable. You may be right.
Pruitt and his family may have no trouble living in Knoxville as persona non grata for 3 years. I'm sure his wife and kids will love the harassment, the moving signs/vans, the taunts from other kids at school, or whatever crap failing coaches have to deal with in college football towns. Pruitt may have no trouble seeing himself lambasted and humiliated on TV and local radio. Pruitt may sleep like a baby and not care about any of it and just collect his paycheck for three years until he goes back home. That all could very well be the case and then you don't have that leverage to mercifully pull the plug on something that clearly isn't working for either party.
But, that seems a little far fetched to me. Family. Furure. Pride. Ego. Those are all buttons to push for the type of people who are coaches at that level.
More like would you take $9 mil today vs $12 over the next 5 yearsWell, UT could say something like "we want you gone but we're not going to fire you. We can't. If IM smart... I take my MILLIONS I've already made and my family has ZERO to worry a out. But I said "smart". Serious question... What leverage would UT use to negotiate a sum lower than what Pruitt's legally binding contract states he will get?
Isn't the lump sum what they want to avoid because of lack of reseves? If the boosters would get on board with that, it should be a lot more palatable..Remember, and I didn't want to get into actual numbers answering a question about leverage, but his total buyout is capped contractually at 60% anyway. You could probably get it for half of that paid in lump if you found the right motivation for him to go.
You must not get out much. There are tons of those back woods types here in Tennessee.Ohio State has the best shot to beat alabama.
Alabama will roll Clemson and ND this year.
Maybe Ohio State would get rolled also.
Mack Jones has 5 to 7 secs to throw the ball.
F'bama, I will never ever root for them back woods sobs
