Doug Matthews on the OC

I suspect you will all be smacking yourself in the head at how obvious this choice was from the beginning and why a methodical, somewhat lengthy, process was necessary. While I agree that the PR around coaching searches continues to be a disaster, I think very few of us will be critical of the choice (and the process followed) once it is announced. Don't @ me - because this is all I'm going to say about this.

I agree. I don't get all the JG love and excuse making for him. I am not going to bash a young man who has busted his rear and took hits for the team. But, he doesn't have some of the IT FACTORS required to be a GREAT to ELITE QB in the SEC. He is good. But, good doesn't cut it in the SEC. Unless, a .500 or below record is acceptable.

I'm not saying JG would be All-American but even if he had the "IT" factor, it wouldn't have mattered last year. You can say all you want about how great quarterbacks find a way to win but that's subjective. We needed a very good DT QB last year but we don't have one.

Everyone needs to get over JG being the starter because come fall time, he will be the starter. Anyone calling for Shrout or Maurer to start are delusional in thinking that we'd be better off. Then the delusional people would complain that we had another losing season.

Doug Mathews was wrong. Pretty simple. Therefore shouldn't be trusted in the future. That's what happens when you screw up....and it's not up to us to rack our brains trying to justify him. "Well maybe he_______".....Forget that noise. Its his job to decipher what's trustworthy or not before reporting it.
Dumb!

Delusional you say. Freshmen and sophomore’s are balling out all over college football. How can you say JG is better when you haven’t seen the rest. I don’t hate him but if he’s the best we have the others are busts.

The last decade proves otherwise. What have they done to warrant any trust? We want to know what’s going on because this school has given us no reason to believe they are competent at making hires.

Problem is that the situation is fluid. You want to know what is going on. Someone tells you the status at that time and moment. The fluid status changes and you get upset.

You need to wait till it's done or accept that it may change.

A good hire can build some equity with fans. We’ll be more patient when they can start showing us aptitude for these things.

Again, I love someone that isn't bashing someone and then proceeds to bash them.

This x1000. Not only have they burned through all credibility equity, but they can’t figure out how to control a simple message.

Wonder if we will soon see the late term Fulmer, the one who lashes out at fans for daring to question his moves.

Can you confirm if it’s a coach already on our staff?

Why not? Tyson Helton was a perfectly good offensive coordinator and he couldn't wait to leave.

It seems like Pruitt wants a certain type of coach, and forgive me but it seems like the hiring of Friend was always a fail safe in case he didn't like the OC being autonomous.

I have no doubts Jeremy Pruitt knows football in and out. So the logical choice seems like Friend. Let's see what he can do.

I'll say this much, until we change QBs....it doesn't matter who the OC is.
Lol. Perfectly fine?

I guess you don't like passing the ball or scoring points.

When your qb ends up the offensive MVP and your run game is not good you don't run the ball 60%. Friend and Pruitt had to step in he was so "fine."

Helton was pretty terrible. Larry Scott level play calling.

He is lucky he had an efficient and accurate qb like JG who made the most of limited opportunities.

If it's on staff Osovet is the best choice by far.
Friend is an oline coach who has never called a play.

The IT you are talking about is a good team around him.

How bout a hint.
Take the persons name and scramble all of the letters.

This has been an interesting few weeks to observe Tennessee fans and trolls. There are some who want to now everything even before it happens and generally don't know anything about what is going on. There are those who think they know everything and know nothing and get upset when they are challenged about their lack of knowledge. There are those who think they know more than the people making the decisions and are outraged their speculations prove thay know nothing about anything. There are those who want to know everything and think they know the people who know everything and discover none of them know anything. Then there are those who know that no one knows anything and are smart enought to let the process continue until those who know let those who don't know know what has happened. In the end everything will workout and everything will be OK. The ride has been fun and will continue until it is over. Sit back and enjoy the ride. What will be, will be.
Dang, that's a mouthful and a hard read. But, for the most part, I agree with you. It is what it is.
