Why do they have to do any of that? Secondly, media isn’t driving the story cause media doesn’t know.
Then why not announce it?? I can literally think of no good reason to keep this a secret
The only person in my memory that has actually called a coaching hire before it happened was the "check my stats" guy who posted here about CBJ being the new coach. Unless he says something I'm waiting for the presser because the rest is BS.Doug may very well be right in the end, but I'm seriously starting to distrust anyone in the media that covers the program. I'll wait until there is a press conference with dude on stage in Knoxville before I get burned with more Tennessee coaching search shenanigans.
Didn't he say that was from his talk with Fulmer or am I mistaken? He also said that the decision/this hire is 100% and solely Pruitt’s hire, that absolutely nobody has or will interfere with Pruitt....right before he said that Fulmer could, would (and imho did) nix JP’s choice if he didn’t think it was “good for the university”.
And, incredibly, he doubled down on saying the hire was 95% done and that the decision has been made. If that’s the case, it would seem to me that it has to be an internal promotion, otherwise he wouldn’t continue to interview candidate after candidate 5 days after Mathews made his “95% done” comment last Wednesday.
First thing I read from him (and where he coined the “check my stats”) phrase, was the Vic Wharton transfer...soon followed by Daniel Helm and Dwayne Hendrix. The only person in my memory that has actually called a coaching hire before it happened was the "check my stats" guy who posted here about CBJ being the new coach. Unless he says something I'm waiting for the presser because the rest is BS.
his contract is up at Georgia this month, and I dont think he's been extended yet....In the college ranks Enos is the only one coaching for anything at stake...unless UCF repeats as self declared NC’s. Name you didn’t list was Chaney. I’m beginning to think there’s an agreement in place that won’t be announced until after early signing day due to recruiting. Would fit both Atlanta Vol’s and Matthews hints.
Its an open ended statement he made. He can now say when its over that he knew all along and has been done since blah blah..Here's his quote that makes no sense to me:
“The guy they want to hire, the decision has been made on that from the University of Tennessee standpoint,” Mathews stated. “Yeah, they’re interviewing some people, but that decision’s been made."
Really? The decision has already been made- but we are still interviewing? If I was that guy that's already been decided upon, that would worry the @#$# out of me. And if I was being interviewed for @#$% and giggles, that wouldn't sit right either. This sounds like Mathews trying to cover his previous statements imo. It may be true, but it doesn't seem like he knows what the hell he's talking about.
Stories spun ...to fit the narrative...??? Say it ain’t so... THAT IS TODAYS “JOURNALISM” both in sports and the real world. Best part is people are finally catching on... finally...it’s so well documented now that the perpetrators don’t even try to hide it...usually!So you think this being said is just to calm the fans down? Certainly possible. Not that it was needed, but when we saw Currie’s texts about Schiano with that reporter there was “black and white” proof that stories are spun to fit narratives. You just can’t trust anything anymore.
