Dormady Time?

I think if we lose to Arkansas this weekend then you have to at least consider giving QD more playing time. If they do that though Butch has to be careful that the players don't think they are giving up on this season.

I agree! The O-Line coach has had 3 years and they still suck. He should be fired.

Dooley's O-Line was better and they sucked.

Who is the O-line coach? Is it not Debord? I agree- If they were better, we could pass more.

And the fact that he's not allowed to audible (at least I think I heard that) is telling, too.

Mariota wasn't allowed to audible at Oregon either, correct? I think that's more a result of the play style than the abilities of the players. Dobbs is fairly sharp, or at least it seems that way.

No. Not until we get an Oline coach who can get the job done with the kids he's got to work with.

There's some epic over reactions on here tonight, but you sir have the finest overreaction of all - congrats!

well the 2nd QB is all ways the one that everybody thinks can win the next big game :)

didn't CBJ burn his red shirt year all ready ?

Because the O-Line can't give any QB enough time to pass??????

It's the coaches job to adapt to personnel. Florida had 3 freshman on a patchwork O-line and schemed appropriately. It's not like this it was a surprise for anyone that the O-line would be a weakness. It's obvious week after week. Our coaches did the same thing last year hanging Justin Worley out to dry trying to run this read option garbage.

he dose seem to be the weak link coaching wise and throw Azzanni in as the WR coaches too

it they could hold the opponents D line off for a bit, maybe we would see a semblance of a passing game

it looks like the Vols are close to the same O Line as Worley had and they let him get beat to death, the O line play is what is killing the Vols this year or the lack there of

not Dobbs fault. He almost won the game for us. Why pass when you can run especially when the line won't protect for a five step drop. Dobbs played great get over it.

I don't understand the O-line excuses. Neither florida or Oklahoma played good on their line, but their QB's scrambled and made good passing plays.

I think a dual qb system is actually a smart system here at this point in time. Keeps defenses honest , Dobbs could occasionally throw and dormady occasionally hand the ball off. Keeps defenses honest

Our QB just lead the team in rushing, receiving and passing. How many times has that happen? What more could he have done except make a few tackles.

At this point I'm not sure a QB change would make much of a difference unless Dormady has Heisman potential as a freshman.

A lot of people are hating on our scheme, but honestly I don't think that our scheme or offensive system is necessarily the problem.

I think it's more of the playcalling/game planning/coaching within the scheme that is the problem. There are plenty of teams with very similar schemes to ours that are successful. The difference is that they make adjustments within that scheme to take advantage of their offensive talent. Butch and Debord just haven't shown themselves to be able to do that.

Take your choice of qbs in college football and this offense will still sputter in the passing game. When is the last time you have seen a linebacker cover one of our receivers in the open field? How many times this year? Last year? We do not create mismatches in this offense. Never have, never will.

I know it may sound foolish with Dobbs' scrambling ability. But with ZERO threat of a passing game maybe it wouldn't be such a bad move. I've seen enough of both to know who the better passer is at this stage in their development. Dobbs is a Junior and will not suddenly become a premier passer next year. Dormady would give UT that threat I believe and would greatly assist the improvement of the Hurd/Kamara running attack.

I'm for it. At least Dormady can throw an accurate pass of more than 4 yards.

Over reaction? We are pretty much one dimensional with Dobbs at qb. You can't count on him to make the throw to move the chains. He's suspect at best in the passing game. Dormady can scramble and can throw the ball. Dobbs threw as many passes behind the line of scrimmage in the first half as he did beyond it.

Give QD some meaningful playing time. Give him some experience and the opposing defense something else to plan for

No it's not Dobbs fault we lost but the longest pass play of the day was thrown by a WR and the 2nd longest by a RB. Coaches have no confidence in Dobbs to pass. Sure he can run but outside a couple plays Florida boxed him in the 2nd half -- threat neutralized

Nobody is blaming the game on Dobbs. We cannot win without a passing game and the offense is choked until we get one going. If the coaches don't trust Dobbs to throw it, they better get a solution fast.
This stable of five star receiver talent is being absolutely wasted. This is a ton of offensive production not happening.
Further, this garbage offense is not what they signed up for. Why would they stick around and work hard to do nothing?
