Dormady, is it time

Need to stick with Dobbs because of his leadership qualities. It would have been so easy to fold it yesterday down 10 and nothing working late in 3rd quarter, but he stuck with it and at least made a few plays late in the game. Also, the rest of the team rallies around him and that is supper important.

Ok so just a thought our oline wasn't prepared for such small dline and vice versa I believed we got out coached and our guys didn't seem like they trust the anything the coaches were telling them big drop in the polls. Please don't do this this yr guys y'all got to do something ****

IMO, Dobbs' inability to go through his reads creates indecisiveness and he holds the ball too long. As many have said, utilizing some inside slants would cure a lot of this but it simply isn't in Butch's play book. Did anyone notice how open the middle of the field was all night, yet we never took advantage. Dobbs is not a good qb but he could definitely be better with improved play calling. At this point, we are only paying Butch for his recruiting/coach-speak skills bc he clearly cannot actually coach football.

No, it's not time for Dormady. He would've gotten his neck broken last night.

Hate to say it, but I strongly agree with one thing D4H has said often....the play calling was horrific and gave Dobbs no chance to be dynamic or successful. No slants, no seam routes, no back shoulder throws, absolutely nothing up the field with the exception of the TD throw to Malone, which was the one time we actually threw deep. I just don't get it. Too damn predictable and unimaginative. Play calling and subsequently the results on first down was horrific. If Dobbs is your QB then let him play.

On second thought, if Butch is gonna continue with this "I don't trust my senior, dark horse Heisman candidate and 2nd team all-SEC QB", then maybe they should just bench him and go with somebody else. What we saw last night was utter coaching malpractice.

For the life of me I dont know why Debord doesnt call any quick slants.

Dobbs can throw the ball just fine they just don't let them smh. For reference look at the Malone throw it was a beauty of a throw. Tight spiral that was right on the money.

I wish they'd put Kamara in the slot some. He has some great hands and him and Dobbs have a pretty good connection.

Come on now you dont believe that do you? Thats a lame duck excuse to me. Teams that wanna win championships dont play vanilla.

I don't agree with the practice...but you really think that was our whole offense on display? I don't...therefore I believe what I said. :hi:

We were very predictable but I believe butch has to make a change on the line Coleman Thomas was awful I saw him on one play get blown completely back feet in the air I saw many off snaps and isn't he suppose to read what the dline does and make a change and how the hell we can't block 3 rusher......3

for a dual quarterback plan?.
For now, we are a one dimensional offense. This will not work in the SEC. Hurd run, Hurd run, Hurd run, geese give me a break.
Dobbs cannot throw accurately passed fifteen yards.
Our play calling is so predictable it is pathetic. No surprises, no trick plays, nothing!.

Dobb's has had 4 years to improve every part of his QB ability and he just hasn't done it. If not by now then I doubt he ever will. I give Dormady or if they think JG is the future then time to turn him loose. Doesn't matter to me which one they go with but it's time to turn one or both of them loose and see what they can do.

I'm just unsure why you brought geese in to this.

Just one slant. That's all I ask. Just try it, DeBord. You might actually like it.

naw...Josh will be fine...Coach Debord... not so sure...believe his game plan was to not get anyone hurt and win the game...mission accomplished...doubt VT is shaking in their boots about playing us after seeing this film. Still, first game of a long season...should be a hell of a ride...:)

GO VOLS!

I dont know if its time to give Dormady a shot or not but i will say this and please listen guys...

WHITE QB DOES NOT MEAN POCKET PASSER

Dormady, and JG for that matter, are both very mobile "dual threat" QBS...they might be a tick slower than Dobbs, but are still fast AND CAN ACTUALLY THROW THE BALL.

Dobbs is a great kid. No doubt. But he missed nearly every open receiver last night high, low, uncatchable in the dirt...threw a terrible pick instead of throwing the ball away that likely cost us a FG...which a senior should never, ever do. The reason CBJ supposedly wont let any other QB take a meaningful snap is supposedly Dobbs decision making...which sucked last night. We also got very lucky that Hurd wrestled the ball away on Dobbs fumble or we lost our home opener for the first time in decades...and probably torpedoed the whole season.

There is no excuse for those poor decisions by a senior QB...and no excuse for hitting a slot receiver or TE IN THE ANKLES ON A 5 YARD SLANT. NO EXCUSE
PERIOD.
NONE.

My buddy down in Baton Rouge says their message boards saying Dobbs has broken ribs from that lick in OT. Anybody else hear anything? I'm sure that's speculation just because it looked really bad, but it wound shock me

That one throw doesn't mean Dobbs is a good passer downfield. Seeing as how he was limited a lot by the play calling last night we should all hold off a couple more games before rushing to judgement, but he has to play better.

The o line and d line tells you what will happen. Ours both suck. He would have to be dominant like Cam Newton which he is not. So if all teams have to do is play prevent then this season is over. No good sec qb plays that bad aginst mid majors. He is TOTALLY reliant on the schemes.

You people really think a different QB makes this hot garbage offense effective? Lol

This. We've been saying for years that we were just vanilla in the opener and that's why the offense was poor. Nope. This is the system they run. We run five plays. We get in the gun from the one yard line. We don't attack vertically. By God we run THE SYSTEM.

What they saw was a center that can't play the position beyond snapping the ball. Even with help, VT defense will come up the middle like a tide in front of a storm.

Let me guess, you want to start Riley Ferguson. Good thing this is just your opinion. And no..nobody saw the middle of the field open all night either. Did you happen to see the D lineman in the backfield all night? But hey...sounds like you have the pulse of this team.
