Dooley's future at UT (merged)

I think we all need to relax and see how things play out.

IMO, I think the consensus was Dooley needs to go 8-4 / 9-3 to call this season a successful one and to keep his job, so lets say 8 - 4 is good season and he stays for another year.

Dooley can lose 4 games, he lost one and now out of the remaining 9 better win 6. If he doesn't get 6 more wins I'll have a meltdown as well and be in the same boat as rest of you guys calling for his job. Till then, I support this team and the coaches. GBO

Agree. Before the Florida game we were really good, Bray for Heisman, finish in top twenty, DD coach of year in SEC. We lose and all that is gone..........really. I think most people that post on here know nothing of football or are younger, I am 50 ( I know old man ) so to me younger , that is react without thinking most time is 20or less, just my thoughts. I don't have the answer for UT, but I will support them regardless of who the coach is.Also the idea of playing Worley, what would VN think if DD would have put him in and he threw a pick 6, or the opposite, a touch down, then what do we do?:loco:

UT losing is not the issue, I thought the game was a toss up and wasnt at all surprised (dissapointed yes) to see us lose.... BUT the problem is that we gave up, gave in , spit the bit etc etc U really think a Saban coached team would have went out like that? Also , please tell me about DD's one win vs top 25 competition.

bama loss, ga loss on road, missouri a loss. usc jr. and vandy we will split that. ky win, akron, troy a win. meaning he did better this year with 2 wins in the sec. You can't say we will do better than. We got thumped 2yrs ago at GA. Mizzou has a good fast offense. We can not keep up with that. Bray only does good with weak opponents.

Wow people around here have no reading comprehension skills. He didn't say that he thought bray was a heisman contender or that dooley would be coach of the year. If y'all were around this board a week ago everyone was saying these things. I swear some of y'all only come on here when we lose because y'all enjoy stirring the pot. Half the people complaining or calling for a coaching change don't come on here when we're winning. It's really pathetic

Really?? Are you 12? Like you could do any better? CDD is the finest fit for a Tennessee Head Coaching job i dont care what anyone says.. He has great southern hospitality, SEC raised, and he has a lot of football knowledge.. it aint his fault our players cant get the job done in the 2nd half.

I disagree. That's is exactly his job along with other responsibilities.

Until the fertile recruiting grounds of Bama, Georgia, Louisiana and Florida open back up it is going to be difficult for any UT coach to find a level of consistent success here. The only way that is going to happen if the schools from those states start losing or get put on probation.

I think CDD has brought in some good players from most, if not all, of those states.

Beating out in state schools is hard but with the kids we now have as Freshmen and Sophs I don't think anyone can honestly say that CDD can't recruit good players.

But we need more than a few of the good players from those states, we need some of their great players and that is not going to happen as long as those teams are winning.

Hamilton made the choice. And was only willing to pay 2million a year and winner would have cost us 5-6mill. Hamilton should have never been
allowed to hire anybody after kiffin.

Im tired of people giving dooley the talent excuse, if he was such a greta coach then why aren't we winning more with 3 straight top25 recruiting classes, ULM beat 1 SEC team and nearly beat another, neither of which Dooley would be able to beat this year, with FAR less takent. Boise St may only play 1 good team a year, but with the exception of this year they have managed to beat that 1 team with a less talented team. Heck even Vandy can play other SEC opponents close and more competitively than we can and noone on here can honestly say they have more talent than we do.
Even with the mess Dooley inherited he still had more talent than a lot of FBS teams, bt the one thing he just can't and never will do is field a competitive team. From what I've seen since he's got here you could hand him every 5star player every year and he would still find ways to lose against SEC teams.
The PosiVols ned to face it, if it wasn't for a lucky grab by DR lat year, we would've been 0-8 in the SEC .
From what I've seen this year I'm honestly expecting us to be 4-8 or 5-7 at the very best. Sure we beat NC State, but we started flat against and stumbled and bumbled our way to 51pts against Ga St and for the 3rd year we couldn't be competitive with a decent(not good or great) SEC team for a full 4qrts. I have no faith we will be competitive against UGA, Bama, USCe. Miss St and Mizzo will out coach us in the end and Vandy and UK will be far more motivated as them beating us will be a HUGE accomplishment to their fan base, but us beating them SHOULDN'T mean anything to our fans and only entry into a toilet level bowl game for the players

I See dooley being let go if he does not win any conference games. I would like to Bill Cower or John Gruden come to Tennessee. I know it want happen but it's a nice wish.

We do have a disadvantage with our talent base. Problem is, we also have a disadvantage with our coach. Since our talent base isn't going to change then we're going to need a coach who can get the most out of our talent and win with lesser talent. We definitely don't have that now. And I'm not sure if our coach now could win consistently even if he constantly had better talent than the opponent.
He was a lackluster hire to being with and has lived up to that. It's time for him to go.
