Dooley's future at UT (merged)

Just adding my 2 cents here also. I am like most fans, I am a Dooley supporter and like him and think he is good guy. But just dont think he leads this team to the top. Dont think he can coach and I really dont think Chaney can adjust and coach as well. They have the rest of the season to get it done and we will see if they do. I hope so but just dont have faith in them 2 coaches or Bray when he plays a good opponent. He cant move and pannicks when under pressure. He was terrible tonight. He did what Florida's DB said he would exactly. I am tired of losing thats for sure. If Kiffin were still here we would be east Champs easy. Dont like him but he can coach. If Dooley flops this year the only person I would be happy with is John Gruden. Throw him a blank check and get it done.

I still dont think some of you realize where the program was when dooley took over. Fulmer ran it into the ground with his recruiting the last few years and kiffin leaving coupled with his poor recruiting class had us in the bottom 3 of the sec. Dooley can recruit. Nobody would be recruiting much better than him here without winning. The reason saban recruited better is because he was a big name and won games quicker than dooley. With all of this said if things do not turn around this year it is time for a change. Dooley has the talent to compete for sec east, but I dont believe he has the coaching ability. He has been beat coming out of halftime by too many coaches. Muschamp made adjustments last week and this week to win games. I dont see dooleys team making any. I hope we can turn the season around but im not optimistic. GBO

I think we will beat one of the 2 of Missouri or Mississippi State but hard to see beating both after last nights performance. BTW Louisiana Tech is in the WAC.

I don't think you realize Fulmer has been gone
For 4 years. Just like Bush.
We hire new leaders to do a job. Dooley makes big
bucks to coach. He has failed miserably.


Someone get petrino a new motorcycle and a hot coed!

Dooley will get at least 2 more years because of all the problems he got from kiffin / fulmer.

He got the job more as the result of a lottery pick than anything he had done to earn it. Not really sure why people still don't get that.

Hammy made a terrible decision to hire whomever he could get on a 3-day search. Totally ignorant... beyond belief--and I know he's already been fired, but the problem he created with football has got to be fixed.

I believe the sooner the better. This season is already lost... if I was Hart, I'd do whatever helps most with recruiting and next year. These guys can't win because they haven't been developed as players.

Turn the freaking page, please.

I wish saban was in his 40s.... Anyways I knew that this was a must win game for Dooley. He had all the fan support behind him and he couldn't get it done. If we need to get a new coach, it has to be someone proven. We can't risk getting an unproven coach and getting recruiting violations or set us back on recruiting. Period.

Firing Dooley should be a given at this point. The questions are only when and who replaces him.

The next hire is a clear statement as to whether or not UT cares to have a football program in the decade ahead.

I disagree that we can't find a coach. Nobody wanted the crashed program after kiff left. We now have a manageable situation. CDD will get one more year IMO by winning 8 this year. Even if he doesn't the TN job is a lot more attractive now thanks to the rebuild done by CDD.

Do you mean nobody wanted it within the long 3-day search Hammy executed?

It's plain ignorant to say we can't hire a coach. It took Bama months to hire Saban... he went on TV and said absolutely no... won't do it. Nobody wanted it... has become the lamest excuse for hiring Dooley that I've ever heard.

My observations were: Tyler Bray is not in the top three quarterbacks in Div 1 football. He is maybe the third best quarterback in the SEC East. He was clearly outplayed by Florida's true sophomore QB. The wide receivers especially Hunter did not help his quarterback out. This Dooley team clearly does not know how to play the third quarter against good competition just like last year and laid a t__d. The defense was again exposed for what they are and how they are coached. M. Teague again disappointed for the attempted high tackle. But on the other hand the ref's hanky's got stuck in their pockets in the second half as I could see holding by Florida on just about every play on both offense and defense. It looked as if a Florida booster send some $$ down to the refs room during halftime. Just my two cents.

Teague had so much potential as a reciever... great move Dools. He sux on defense. Move him back, huh?

Do you remember how many times Saban 'passed' before he took the job? Dude, everybody passes when they have another job. It's common sense in negotiating a contract.

It will happen again. And, if we cut it off at 3-days, we might as well start with whomever has a losing record in the Sunbelt conference.

This was all Hammy talk. He's gone, so you can drop it and quit acting like the whole of UT is this stupid.

The first half of the game the players were playing with focus and determinaton and were getting the interference calls. The second half when Brodus missed the extra point the team got deflated and were no longer focused and were not getting the interference calls. I still think and feel that Chaney is a cancer on this team and needs to go.

Truth of the matter is no one knows how Florida is going to end the season, or how we will finish. It was 1 game, however it was one that us as fans wanted to win. I would trade our loss last night for a win over Uga, Bama or Scar though.

If a missed extra point is enough adversity to make a team quit... we need a new coach.

There has not been a single big name coach beat our doors down wanting to coach here. There has been several decline to even discuss coaching here, people can moan all they want but until this job becomes attractive it is not going to lure big names to coach here.

If you were a 'big name coach', can you think of any other action you could do to reduce your offer any more than would this one? Outside... ethics, jail time, etc.

I bet fans of USC and the Hokies are not happy with how their teams performed yesterday either. Lets see how the rest of the season goes and I never said the team quit, if anything they panicked and lost focus and that is on the players not the coaches. The coaches calls the plays and it is up to the players to go out and execute the plays.
