Tennessee may be a "tough" place to coach because of recruiting, but keerist amighty, did you folks see those aerial shots of Neyland stadium? Who would NOT want to come coach at a place like that? It was amazing to behold. We have some of the best facilities in the nation. Our fanbase is HUGE. And yet, teams with single-level 45,000-seat stadiums are pulling in better coaches and playing better football than we are. Obviously, there is something endemically wrong with the program. I think it has something to do with our reputation among young players and coaches. That has to be fixed first and foremost. And it gets fixed by winning. So we have a chicken-and-egg dilemma here.
None. It's never Dooley's fault. It's always Jim Chaney's fault, or it's always Mike Hamilton's fault, or it's Dave Hart's fault. No wait, it's Tyler Bray's fault. No wait, it's the fans fault for going quiet in the 4th quarter when they saw the collapse ensuing.
I for one say it's completely 100% Dooley's fault. There was a reason every coach on the staff left after last year except Chaney. Yes Chaney sucks but Dooley should have realized that two years ago. I'm not impressed that his offense can roll it up against Montana, Ga State, MTSU etc. Obviously when you have much better skill players then the other team you should be able to score a bunch of points. Chaney has never out schemed a good team since he's been here.
This is the first time I have read "four years" on VN. All I have ever seen is three years. Heck, even the non-Volunteer sports media pegged this year as his make-or-break. So far, it is a break.
I suppose we can be glad that we know how to win outside of the conference. As long as we avoid the Michigans and Utahs of the world.
