Dooley's future at UT (merged)

This team's M.O. is to fold in the face of adversity. It doesn't matter how many games are left. As a collective group, we haven't had heart since he's been here...save for the friggin Vandy game last year. And I've seen enough to know that that's not going to change regardless of if this was the first game or the 10th one. So keep saying that this is just the 3rd game. And when we're looking at another disappointing season the meme will be wait until next year. So many with battered wife syndrome in this fanbase...

He needs to take his orange pants and his hair product and go back to GA.

The worst thing we ever did was not fire Fulmer the worst thing we did was hire Dooley instead of naming Kippy Brown as interim coach for the 2010 season so we would have time to make an intelligent coaching decision. Is Dooley all that's left from the destructive hammy years?

Sounds like Obama and the Dems continuing to blame Bush for the economy, even though it's worse now than when he left office!

This is just false. The economy sucks and it is because of DECADES of bad policies. Blaming Bush or blaming Obama is just stupid.

Back to the discussion, Dooley let us down tonight and the idea of him being the right coach is getting grimmer by the game he coaches...

It is hard to tell if it is coaching or if it is the players but we are just not good enough to compete with the the top sec teams and it sucks. Should we have got rid of fulmer aka bill snider at kansas state or should we fire the current coach but it does not seem to matter. Tennessee football will never be like it was or maybe we will go 11-1 and only lose to florida like the old days.

How do we know? The sad part is FL is not a top SEC team. We are now struggling to keep contact with the also rans. Alabama put a beating on AR tonight that was scary. Them and LSU are miles ahead, and we are not in any way closing the gap

I wish Mike Hamilton would have never been hired. Might have saved us about 7 years of misery......

Yep... nothing in Dooley's record suggested that he was qualified for the job... and the program didn't need to take this much time to prove that.

that excuse is dead, Hamilton's firing and hiring's did 10 times the damage as Fulmers recruiting drop off

Lol, because fulmer, with his 35th ranked recruiting classes and Josh Nunes at QB would have provided more resistance that a wet paper bag tonight.

Again, I'm not a big ant-Fulmer guy, I love him for what he did, but if you can't see the way the program was trending you are blind and a fool.

Our performance tonight was better than what fulmer gave us his last couple of years.

Yall can blame it on Fulmer if you want but Kiffin was the one who pretty much crashed and burned this program. Take a look back at our off. and def. lines and running backs we have had since fulmer was fired. The best ones were all Fulmer guys.. Our team is not set up to win in the SEC. We look like a big 12 pac 12 school. That is our major problem.

That game was brutal. I never was a fan of Dooley but also wasn't a fan of firing him till his 3rd season plays out negatively. That performance tonight is enough for me to say if we only win 8 games or less, then we need to make a change.

They failed to see that Fulmer was growing long in the tooth. They let him have too much influence and power. Mike Hamilton knew nothing about football and didn't see the signs the program was deteriorating. Fulmer had put recruiting on cruise control and fallen way behind. He wasn't competitive with our rivals in his final years either...

Kiffin further set it back by bailing like he did.

Now we have Louisana Tech's coach. It's been a bad run for the Vols.....

Yeah everyone says this is a make-or-break year bc any team with subpar seasons like ours is gonna have some questions to answer, but after two coaching changes w/ a depleted roster, people seriously believe 3 years is enough to compete for championships again???

Smh...

How about just compete period? Maybe win a big game? Develop a run game? Do the things it takes to win in the SEC.
