Dooley's buyout

i feel i am very qualified to comment here because i pegged just how good both florida and tennessee were before the start of the season and most definitely after the florida-tennessee game.

Allow me to start the slow clap...

Our D-line has played pretty good, considering that was our weak point coming into the season. Worley has gotten better. Bray would have been killing teams. Arnett/Dallas have gotten better. Linebackers have gotten better. Try and keep up.

Bray looked like a clown against Florida and Georgia.

Saban didn't get an guarantee. All Dooley's contract does is protect Dooley!
incorrect....people have really convenient memory. Dooleys buyout was a reaction to the travesty that was Kiffins contract. It does in fact protect Dooley from the inevitable backlash that is happening now. It was also to protect the school once he turns it around next season. Remember his last name is Dooley and UGA's coach is on a permanent hotseat.

Ding ding ding.

When nobody wants to risk his career on your football program because of the giant shiathole that it's in, this is the sort of guarantee you have to offer to get somebody to take it. That's all.

Feel free to pony up $5K, $6K or $10K, if you disagree.

Feel free to cheer for USC if you disagree. There are plenty of people that will take your season tickets if you even have any.

I guess you just feel you are bigger than the University.

I only made $49,654.53 last year, VASF got a $5,000 check in June. I will not use a months pay for the product I am seeing right now, next year. I am only 26 and am still in the starting stages of my career, I have 2 small children. It may not be much to a lot of our donors but it's a lot for me and my family. I know MANY other donors who do the same, who feel the same. Take away all the $2,000-$6,000 donations and someone will take notice.

I do not consider myself a coach, but I do understand the game. I did not expect to go 14-0 this year with a BCS title, hell I didn't expect 8 wins. What I did want to see is improvement, being competitive and at least scoring in the 2nd half even against MTSU. Spare me the real fan crap, I grew up in East Tennessee, attended UTK and my blood is Orange. What I am seeing right now is pathetic, whether it's Dooley or the staff something HAS TO CHANGE.

Just proves that Hamilton did not know how to negotiate a contract! A fair contract would have been 3 year guarantee, then offer a 1 time payment of 1 million to buyout if needed.

Yeah because there would've been a total of 0 coaches that would've jumped at that knowing the mess Tennessee was in. Good call.

Yeah especially after we had all those quality coaches beating down the doors to come coach for UT.

Can you name with PROOF which quality coaches he contacted about the job at UT?...I bet you can't...Because he didn't go after any big named coaches, no proven coaches...He went after a bunch of no names hoping to find a diamond in the rough...So it wasn't a matter of big time coaches knocking down the door, It was the fact none of them were even contacted.

They have a history of doing that. It's always been that way until Kiffin. After that they went back to trying to find that diamond in the rough.

Even the Kiffin hire was shaky. His daddy sold that deal, that and promise of a allstar staff.

I just wish they had waited. I don't care that they would have lost a recruit or two. Just wouldn't have mattered in the long run.

The buyout protects both parties unless Dooley doesn't hold up his end. We won't know until next year one way or the other. I myself would have been fine with naming Kippy interim, but that's just me.

Cry me a river....

Actually I read that the buyout dates are in February. He gets $5 million if fired before Feb '13. IIRC, Fulmer's buyout is finished in the fall of '13.

IMO, finances... not to mention common sense... point to DD being the UT HC until at least Feb '14. I think he would almost have to have a losing record next fall not to get the next year.

My point exactly several threads ago. It is not happening....until at least 2014.

You should do some research and check out the contracts of other head coaches at BCS schools. When you do, you'll see some similarity in most of them. Hopefully others will do the same so we don't see these extremely ignorant posts. At least not as regularly as now.

Lol, thanks for the lesson.

I know how contracts work, including those involving BCS schools and coaches. The buyout was too strong given the lack of resume.

No need for the hostility. But you're welcome to buy my season tickets, if you would like. My family has six that will not be used for Vandy.

You have two young kids, you're only making $50k a year, and you're sending five thousand of it to UT for football tickets? With all due respect, it sounds like you could spend some time away from football getting your priorities straight anyway.

If I cannot survive off of 45k a year then I have some issues.

I did not include my spouses income either, she is a nurse so I Would hope were not eating ramen noodles and living in a box anytime soon!

So that makes it right? If you bought the tickets, why not show up? Sounds like money management issues to me. If you are going to pony up for some season tickets, go to the damn game if you can go.

I am a season basketball ticket holder, I will go to every game no matter the outcomes. People just need to quit their belly aching and support this team, or just cheer for another. It is pretty plain and simple. It has been 1.5 years, not 2 or 3 or 4, 1.5. Why is it so hard to realize that?
