Dooley

It's another member of the Resumes Don't Matter Club.

Works (or doesn't work as the case may be) for most ADs. At least Dooley got hired without the "Daddy Clause." And he's got a famous Daddy too.

It's a GSM on the whole "Fulmer can't get hired" argument.

Tell me this, would 7 wins this year be a good accomplishment for Kiffin if he was still here? You know, because of the depth issues. Let me go ahead and answer that for you, yes it would have been. This year has been doomed since about 4 years ago

It wasn't doomed. The lack of continuity, the attrition, and the brutal schedule are why this season hangs on a knife edge.

Your points to SGM are very valid though.

Doomed / Knife's Edge. Six / Half a Dozen.

I'd say that a seven win season, given the circumstances of this team and the once lauded top 3 class of '07 (right...'06 perhaps?) that has possibly been the biggest flop of any recruiting class under Fulmer, Dooley gets all but a pass for the upcoming season...OR AT THE VERY LEAST given the same leeway as Kiffin was last year.

I'm not saying I want moral victories at all, I want a team that goes out there and FIGHTS to the last whistle and perhaps pulls an upset or four. People gave Kiffin the proverbial pat on the back last year after he kept UF & Bama on the ropes all game long, and likely could have won. Meanwhile, he was belittling everything about UT's heritage and traditions, including the General Neyland's Maxims...but all was forgiven b/c he "didn't take no jive" from Slive and always poked jabs at CUM.

Then, Dooley comes in and instead of trying to turn the program into the--NOW NCAA SANCTIONED--USC of the south, he talks about learning the culture and carrying on UT's storied traditions and honor.

We are NOT Southern California.

We are Tennessee.

I'm sick and tired of CDD being compared to the last regime b/c in my book, we were headed towards the same sh** storm that SC finds themselves in now, as long as Kiffin was here.

I won't sacrifice UT's reputation for a few wins, especially if it means we get hammered like the SC's and Bama's of the world.

My two cents...

I could see your point if he hadn't had Dooley actually on staff for so long.

Doesn't mean it isn't still PR. I've had people I've worked with and worked for me that I thought were fine workers but there's no way I'd ever put them in any kind of leadership role. Just because he had him on staff so long in NO way indicates how he thinks of him as a head coach.

If you knew Saban, you would not have this opinion.

I finally have a Dooley story.

Boarding a plane tonight and noticed the guy behind me is wearing a lsu football shirt. Started talking about playing them this year. Turns out he played DE for LSU from 03-07. Asked his opinion on Dooley. Said he was a very good coach and liked how he had worked his way up. He knew he wasn't our first choice but felt that he would do a good job us.

There's a better chance of UK winning the SEC than UT winning 9 games this year.

9/4 UT Martin Win
9/11 Oregon Win
9/18 Florida Loss
9/25 UAB Win
10/2 @LSU Loss
10/9 @Georgia Win
10/23 Alabama Loss
10/30 @South Carolina Loss
11/6 @Memphis Win
11/13 Mississippi Win
11/20 @Vanderbilt Win
11/27 Kentucky Win

Upset wins over Oregon, and UGA get the Vols to 8-4. This would be a good season as long as the Vols are competitive in each of the losses. Another upset over USC would be 9 wins.
