Doomed / Knife's Edge. Six / Half a Dozen.
I'd say that a seven win season, given the circumstances of this team and the once lauded top 3 class of '07 (right...'06 perhaps?) that has possibly been the biggest flop of any recruiting class under Fulmer, Dooley gets all but a pass for the upcoming season...OR AT THE VERY LEAST given the same leeway as Kiffin was last year.
I'm not saying I want moral victories at all, I want a team that goes out there and FIGHTS to the last whistle and perhaps pulls an upset or four. People gave Kiffin the proverbial pat on the back last year after he kept UF & Bama on the ropes all game long, and likely could have won. Meanwhile, he was belittling everything about UT's heritage and traditions, including the General Neyland's Maxims...but all was forgiven b/c he "didn't take no jive" from Slive and always poked jabs at CUM.
Then, Dooley comes in and instead of trying to turn the program into the--NOW NCAA SANCTIONED--USC of the south, he talks about learning the culture and carrying on UT's storied traditions and honor.
We are NOT Southern California.
We are Tennessee.
I'm sick and tired of CDD being compared to the last regime b/c in my book, we were headed towards the same sh** storm that SC finds themselves in now, as long as Kiffin was here.
I won't sacrifice UT's reputation for a few wins, especially if it means we get hammered like the SC's and Bama's of the world.
My two cents...
