Muschump was offered the job here at Tennessee and turned it down. Why? Because he was not confident in his ability to turn a program around that was in complete disarray. Instead he took a job the next year with a team overflowing with talent and an easy pipeline to future talent.

Dooley however, took the job confident he could turn the program around. You have to respect a guy who has the confidence to come into a program that was in shambles but still has a fan base that expects a win every week.

Dooley > Muschump

Glad Muschamp made the choice he did and tomorrow we'll see why. I really feel like Dooley and staff will out coach the OVERRATED Florida staff.

Homerville post IMO. Let's give this a little context, shall we? You don't think Muschamp would have taken the job if HE was the HC at La Tech instead of the DC at Texas??

You really believe this drivel?

So Muschamp should have taken the UT job because it gave him a chance to rebuild, and he is taking the "easy way out" because he said yes to Florida?

How many coaches do you think would have said yes when Dooley did, and how many do you think fault Muschamp for saying No to UT and yes to Florida?

Are you kidding me???

And maybe... just maybe..... Muschamp grew up there... That could be a reason also...

Yeah, living 10 years in gainesville probably played no part in the decision............

Good grief some of you are delusional.

This is not a knock on Coach Dooley, but I don't think Coach Dooley was getting the offers that Muschamp was getting. Had Coach Dooley stayed with Saban, he probably would have gotten the same type of offers.

Either way, I'm glad we have the coach we have and that he sports the orange britches.

Wasn't Dooley the head coach AND AD at LaTech? That IMHO is better than being the DC at Texas!

Lets give this a bit more context shall we. Dooley could have continued to ride the coat tail of Saban and followed him to Alabama after Miami. Instead, he decided to blaze his own trail and took over LA Tech which was in as bad a shape as it gets in college football.

Mushump road the tail of Mack Brown at the University of Texas where your entire recruiting roster is full with 4 and 5 star talent before the recruiting year begins. He has never had to go out and truly fight to build a team.

No matter how it went down, I'm just happy we got the better of the two.

I see it the same way. Dooley was much more confident that he could turn this program around, despite arguably having "less" to lose.

I would rather be the DC at Texas than the HC, AD, President, and founder of La Tech and anyone who would not take that deal is not living in reality

That's Dumb! You'd rather be a coordinator than the Athletic Director = It took me a while, but I finally got around to finding something extremely DUMB to say!

Muschamp did not take the job because he is not a Vol fan... plain and simple

And I can respect that, just like I do not blame kiffin for going where his heart led him, but I am also glad his heart led him that way. I just do not think he had it in him to coach the right way in the SEC.

Everything happens for a reason and so far I am happy it played out the way it did and we have CDD in here now :D

But as far as Muschamp being scared to rebuild a program, I don't buy that for a second.. he is a good coach and Florida is lucky to have landed him. But I do not think he is better then Dooley just because I do not think he would be as big on developing our players off the field as well as on.. and to me that is what makes a good coach a great coach
