Who F-ing cares what Fulmer thinks about CDD
Why do UT fans seem to have a need to live in the past?
I'm a NY Giants football fan. Every time the Giants hire a new coach or draft new players, you don't see the media run out to Bill Parcells or Ray Perkins and ask them what they think about the hire. Nobody asks the new coach if he's going to go talk to those guys. That's unheard of. Even in college football - Did everyone ask Gene Stallings or Mike DuBose what they thought about the Nick Saban Hire or ask Saban if he was going to reach out to either of them? How bout at UCLA, USC, or any other big time program? NO
See, once a coach retires, for the most part, they go away. Maybe if they have long time connections to the University, like Fulmer, they school will trot them out and pay them an outrageous fee that nobody deserves for showing up and signing autographs and helping to promote the "glory days" of the school and raise money. Other than that, nobody really cares much....except UT fans. You want to see Fulmer involved in some way, maybe make him the AD, an look to him like his opinion matters. For proof that his opinion no longer matters in college football, look and see how many programs of the dozens that were looking, brought him in to interview for a head coaching job...none. He contacted a couple and they gave him the ole, "we'll get back to you"... if we run out of all other options. Johnny Majors' opinion matters even less. Why not trot out Bill Battle or Doug Dickey and see if CDD had a sit down with them.
Keep UT traditions, the memories, the lore, the history of a great and storied program...keep that, pass that on as fans and as a university. But for pete's sake, quit worrying about the opinion of coaches who are relevant only in our memories.
