Dooley says he doesn't think about his job status

Since I have less than 100 posts, I couldn't start a new thread, but I heard Jimmy Himes on 104.5 this morning saying that he heard from a "very reliable" source that Dooley will not be fired if he wins out. Jujst thought I'd share FWIW.

I do not believe this. If Gruden or some other "high profile" coach shows interest in the job, Dooley will be gone regardless of how the rest of the season plays out. I guarantee that Hart has "put the feelers out". The real question is if any of those coaches have shown interest. Dooley will not be fired just for the sake of firing a coach. If he is fired at the end of the seaon, that should tell you that UT has found it's new coach, and it will be a solid hire.

The SEC is business, big business. Dooley is over the last two years 1-7 and 0-5. That my friend is failure with a capital F. I hurt for our players because they have an incompetent bunch of coaches not putting them in position to win. As that brilliant Dooley said himself the SEC won't have Tennessee to kick around any more. He is a smart arse who is about ready to get what he deserves and no one on this board should feel sorry for this guy, you want to express feelings put them where they belong for the players who put it on the line for the incompentent Dooley who insults them, etc,. He admitted that he was worried about his hip when he didn't call a TO or challange the OB play. Take your crutches and walk your arse back to Georgia. He won't be on anyone's coaching list that is for sure. Cut bait, no school including Vandy would put up with 1-12 in the SEC.

Solid post bringing to light things people don't want to talk about. Someone show me a single loss that he has taken complete ownership of? He has throw everyone under the bus except himself. Guess he does really need to go somewhere else since apparently everyone, including the players, make mistakes except for him...

Sparty....you had me until Mullen.

Think about all of your issues with our secondary play and Sunseri (and you are hearing the same things I am about his coaching), and then consider how many defensive backs UT has recruited recently.

Dooley has managed to find enough scholarship players to field a team. He hired a great RB coach and a good OL coach. Otherwise he has been behind the curve.

There is a long list of affordable coaches that could have done more than Dooley has done.

And which one of those wanted to coach here when Kiffin left?

here is the problem. We have gotten worse since Dooley has been here. His first year team would beat this year's team. A lot of those guys had been coached by Fulmer and Kiffin and showed better coaching in fundamentals. I think Dooley is a really good organizer and is a great assistant...but being a head coach he has not shown that IMHO.

No.

After Dooley and Hart spoke on the plane coming back from MSU, I would not expect Dooley to think about his job status. He knew he was fired by years end.

He's a very smart guy so he knew what he was walking into when he came to Tennessee and he didn't fear the task like all the other coaches did.

Those other coaches didn't turn us down because they "feared the task" of coaching Tennessee. They just didn't want to be a dirtbag like Lane Kiffin and bail on their current school and fans at the last second.

Your point of view paints a picture that Dooley is a savior and took on a job other coaches feared. Another point of view would be that those coaches had honor and integrity by not screwing their school over. I'm sure you thought poorly of Kiffin for the way he left us. Yet you praise Dooley for taking our opening and doing to LaTech what Kiffin did to us.

In essence, you're right about one thing. Dooley is a very smart guy. He took the first and only offer to get him out of the WAC. Looking at his body of work in the SEC, it will be a long time before he receives that call again.

I don't believe he thinks about it. He knows UT is not likely to buy out his staff, and he isn't about to resign and have to pay the school....he's prepared to ride this out to the bitter ugly end if need be.

If he gets fired- he gets 5 million bucks- thats enough to salve hurt feelings. THanks to that f**ker Mike Hamilton, we cant even get rid of this guy without taking a shot to the groin. " what me worry? I read Mad " What Hamilton did to this school is almost criminal- this was financial mal practice and I would like to see UT sue this jerk to recover some of the millions he wasted.

Nothing Hamilton did pisses me off worse than firing Bruce Pearl in a last-ditch effort to save his own job. Was Pearl wrong? Yup, but he should have let the NCAA handle the situation. I support Cuonzo and wish him the best, but I believe we have witnessed the high-water mark of Vols basketball. It'll never be better than it was under Bruce. Hamilton raped out Athletic Department, that's for sure.

IMO Hamilton was the worst hire in UT AD in my lifetime. He will fade from memory in a few years but what he did to UT will not. He was a bean counter with a bean counter mentality, not one needed for a true AD.
