Dooley > Kiffin

I'm surprised that the traditions like the maxims and highlight reels doesn't bother more people. Why do players say that they come to play for the university and tradition not the coaches if we should don't care about ours. We should just take down the "I will give my all for Tennessee" sign, and replace it with "I will give my all to try and be like USC".

USC played in 7 straight BCS bowls and won 2 national titles last decade. Who doesn't want to do that?

As long as we win then what does it matter?

That doesn't even qualify as a legitimate response. You cannot be serious. If you are, however, maybe you should start watching the Trojans. If you truly don't care about tradition, then why stick with your tradition of supporting the Vols?

Sure it does. Winning is first. Tradition is second. I'd gladly give up running through the T and the checkerboard endzones if I knew that we would win a national title.

your crazy....Dooley has managed to KILL any excitment that kiffin braught back to this program and not just with the fanbase. kiffin had every major recruit looking at tennessee and wanting to check us out. now we have one commit and dropped off alot of top prospects radars...

if he wins then i can overlook his ******* ways and how he makes ut football even more boring than under fulmer...but if he doesint win we need to not waist time and go after somone we really need for this program and throw the kitchen sink like alabama did...

Without our traditions we are just another USC or Miami team.

If we lost things like the vol walk, running through the T, rocky top, or the checkerboards we wouldn't be the same. I wouldn't care how well we did, I wouldn't cheer for em cause it wouldn't be the vols.

So, according to your logic, I guess every team in America should wear Red and White and put numbers on their helmets next season?

You can want a high level of success while staying true to yourself. I will continue to embrace the DEEP tradition that is Tennessee football while we work through this rebuilding period and look to future success.

Also, all you USC wannabees should lokk back just 10 years. USC was irrelevant. So was Alabama for that matter. Oklahoma, too. Programs go through these down phases and they show who the real fans are.

Give it a freaking rest already. We'll see who the better coach is soon enough. Do you get extra points for being overly optimistic or pessimistic ahead of others? We heard the same horse crap from both sides that has been beaten to death by mostly the same posters.

Question I have is what does his record have to be year one to be considered a success? Is a repeat of last year a success especially with this schedule? I think making a bowl game this year with the schedule we have and recruiting well would be a good benchmark to evaluating this staff with the depth issues and difficult schedule.

I'm not worried about who the better coach is at this point. There is no way we can tell yet. I'm just glad we have Dooley because he respects our traditions.

As for the success measurement. I've been saying since signing day that we could win 7-8 games with a couple chances to steal a few more.

Saban isn't in the media everyday, and definitely doesn't bring any excitement when he talks. So he's a bad recruiter by your logic?

Please. Just because YOU don't know about it doesn't mean it's not getting DONE.

Dooley can be compared with Saban when he wins a national championship. Or does anything of note for that matter.

I bet you are one of the people that say "if you don't support our coach, you are not a true fan."

just sayin

How do you know he didn't?

Saban didn't.

What he did do was:
*Come in and immediately change the entire environment in the football program.
*He shut out the media, to the dislike of many journalists & even some fans. Why do you think over 100,000 fans showed up for his 1st Spring Scrimmage? Because we had no idea what the man was doing...
*He limited access to his players and coaches, freshmen are still not allowed to do interviews and neither are any of his coaches.
*He laid down his law immediately. Players had a choice to either buy into his way of doing things, or get the hell out.
*He didn't exactly embrace our traditions, but he recognized and respected them and did not interfere with them in any way.
*He slowly changed the culture and mindset of everyone involved with the program.

It's going to take some time for Dooley to turn things around at UT. But, the man knows SEC football and he knows what it takes to win in this conference. IMO, Given time, and most importantly fan support, he will be successful.

Of course I would expect Bama fans to endorse him, since Saban >>>> Dooley.

I'm not endorsing Dooley, because I don't know what he will be able to produce in the coming years for UT.

It just seems like many UT fans are judging everything the guy does and comparing it to your previous coach. I was simply answering a post which asked if Saban came into our program and put up pictures of LSU. He did not, and I just offered a few of the things that he DID do when he came.

I'll leave no so you can go back to bashing your coach and discounting your programs traditions......:good!:

My instinct would be to want Kiffin back and wish he would have been here at least 5 years. Everything seemed to be on the right track, but when the stories came out about him hanging up pictures of usc players and usc video's, it just makes you look at Saban and say "that guy loves Alabama". I feel like Dooley will be more about building something here (if he can), but its difficult to have optimism the way bama fans did about Saban or we did about Kiffin.

Bama fans are glad kiffin is at usc, since UT should have beat alabama last year, with much less talent.
