Dooley and Bray

I was just thinking how sad for DD----whom I really had hopes for and really loved his demeanor; sense of humor, and just over all Southernness. Perfect fit for UT; I thought.
Unfortunately, Dooley's success has been dependent on the ultra laid back kid from California--that just can't get there. World class talent, just too nonchalant. Sad story. For both guys, really.

Sad? Sad for a man whose family is going to receive 5 million dollars? His success was dependent on knowing what he was doing. I had pulled for him also, but SAD?!?

imo, i have seen this the last couple of years at florida before this season. pressure is placed on everyone to be perfect because of how bad other aspects of the team are.

examples.....

a dropped pass was a big deal. wasn't a big deal while spurrier was coach. just throw it again on the next play and get 20 yards. no problem. but, when brantley is throwing the ball, you better catch it because who knows when the next pass will hit you in the hands.

bray makes mistakes, but he doesn't make an abnormal amount of mistakes. however, the rest of the team is so bad that bray has to be perfect and is expected to be perfect.

a turnover is a big deal, because the tennessee defense isn't going to force a fg. the other team is going to get 6.

a punt is a big deal, because the other team is probably going to score.

every mistake the offense makes......every penalty, every dropped pass, every bad throw is magnified.....because the defense is totally incapable of holding up their end of the deal.

so, playing devil's advocate.....what would bray look like if tennessee had florida's defense. how much more relaxed would he be if punting wasn't the end of the world. how would the perception of him be different if tennessee could score 44 and actually be up a few touchdowns instead of losing the game.

I wish you were a Tennessee fan. Common sense hard to find around here.

You always make a good argument 99gator. But, your assertion that Bray does not make an abnormal amount of mistakes is very iffy. His coach believes he does, especially at critical times. Most of the fans believe he does. But, you are right, he probably wouldn't make as many if TN had Florida's defense.

I'm not inclined to give either of them a pass. I think you have a player in Bray who does not take coaching well, combined with an inexperienced coach. A perfect storm of mediocrity. IMO, Dooley has the best chance at improvement someday. He certainly does not have elite coaching skills now, but I see in him the will to be better. Not as sure about TB.

Dooley could bench him today

You obviously disagree; hence you bash. State your case-----enough with childishness. Obviously mama didn't whip that butt nearly enough; if at all. This references all your DA posts to this thread.

I don't know about Eli or why you're bringing alleged pot use into it but it's hard to find East Tennesseans under 40 who haven't smoked weed at least once. It's our state's number one cash crop and we are second only to California in production -- given the size difference both geographically and population wise it's astounding we come close but we do.

And no, I'm not a pot smoker but I'm also not deluded about it. Students at UT are and have been smoking weed at a rate as high as anywhere (probably higher given the availability and quality of Tennessee's pot) and most of them smoked it in high school. That's reality.

And if Eli has never once smoked pot in his life given his age I'd be shocked.

I just got a mental image of Eli and Peyton in the basement smoking pot, listening to Pink Floyd. Made me laugh thanks.

Wise words from a Gator, impressive! Now then, logic isn't allowed in here.
